America's Got Talent: The Champions Sets Terry Crews As Host
Fans of NBC's hit reality competition learned a few months ago that the summer series would be launching a winter run. What we did not know back then is whether everyone from the summer version would be starring in the winter edition. Well, it turns out everyone will be returning except America's Got Talent's summer host, Tyra Banks. We know this because the winter edition of NBC's hit reality competition just added a crucial member to its team. The series has found its host in Terry Crews!
America's Got Talent: The Champions has set the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star to host the special edition of the popular talent competition. Crews will be joined by returning judges: Simon Cowell, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel, all of whom serve on the judges' panel for the series' original installment. Next year will be a busy time for Crews, as the show's impeccable pick for a host will also be starring on NBC via Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
As fans will recall, the Fox comedy was cancelled earlier this year after five seasons, only to be revived for a sixth installment by NBC not too long afterward. Terry Crews will reprise his role as NYPD Sergeant Terry Jeffords in the revival. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is currently set to make its NBC debut during the midseason slot in the network's schedule.
So, Terry Crews will be pulling double duty on the network in 2019. In a statement, Crews expressed his enthusiasm over being asked to be the host of America's Got Talent's special edition, sharing that he and his family love to watch the original together.
Terry Crews already being a fan will be very useful because the winter edition will involve fans' memories of the show's previous installments. That is because America's Got Talent: The Champions will differ from the original. As its title suggests, the winter version will bring back the original's most beloved fan favorites from its past seasons to compete against one another. So, longtime fans of the show should have no shortage of excitement when it comes to this installment.
There is still no word on who those returning fan favorites will be, so stay tuned. With the announcement of the series finding its host, the rest should start falling into place very soon. No stranger to hosting, Terry Crews has a seasoned background, which includes having hosted Netflix's Ultimate Beastmaster in 2017. Selecting Crews to host America's Got Talent: The Champions is an excellent choice and the show will only benefit from his presence.
If The Champions version of the show is successful, he will hopefully be available to return for another season. America's Got Talent: The Champions will premiere in January 2019 on NBC. In the meantime, a slew of series will be making their returns as well as premiering this fall on NBC and other networks.
