The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Announces Season 2 Premiere With Cool New Trailer For Show
It's been nearly a year since Amy Sherman-Palladino's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel first hit Amazon's streaming service. The show has dazzled a lot of viewers and earned some awards. Now, we finally know when it will be back for Season 2! As part of a brand new look at the season, Amazon revealed the comedy will be returning this year on December 5.Tit's up, take a look at the Season 2 trailer below.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has always been a series about a determined young woman who decides she wants to delve into the very male world of comedy. It's the 1950s and many frown upon her choice of profession; in fact, so far she hasn't had the gumption to even tell her family, and the trailer touches on that very plot.
It's also a very funny look at Season 2. We get to see some of the stand-up bits that are coming, but Rachel Brosnahan just has great timing in general and the dialogue between Midge and Susie is just dynamo. There are some good callback jokes in here too, including a triumphant moment when the women finally "got the rabbi!"
It's pretty common for shows to hit the airwaves once a year, but the difference between a streaming service like Amazon or Netflix is that there is sometimes a bit more of a surprise factor. Network TV especially often announces premieres well in advance, but we are just a few short weeks away from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel premiere and Amazon is only now giving us the date. Oh yeah, and the streaming service already renewed the show for Season 3, so we have that to look forward to in addition.
Technically, the show will hit streaming right when a lot of fall shows wrap up, so it should be a pretty nice program to devour during the weeks leading up to the holidays.
So far, we don't know a ton about what Season 2 will be about, but from the looks of things, it seems to be a continuation of Season 1 and Rachel Brosnahan has previously highlighted the "struggles" her character will face. Midge is trying to find her way into the comedy scene. Her ex-husband is still hanging around. Susie still wants to be known as a manager. Midge's parents are still delightful. The only change? Now, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has a ton of Emmys under its belt, the show is flaunting those wins all over this trailer.
You can catch the new season starting on December 5. We know that's still too far away, but on the bright side, we are smack dab in the middle of fall TV, a time when there are new episodes around every single corner.
