The Fan Favorite Vampire Diaries Star Who's Coming To Legacies Soon
The vampire and werewolf action is going strong on The CW even after the cancellation of The Originals, thanks to Legacies. The second spinoff in the Vampire Diaries franchise, Legacies follows a new generation of people with supernatural abilities, and some are the kids of characters that fans came to know and love on the previous two shows. The show has already featured some Vampire Diaries characters, and we can now add one more to the slate: Jeremy Gilbert, played by Steven R. McQueen.
Yes, Steven R. McQueen is reprising his role as Jeremy for Legacies. He'll appear in the third episode of the first season, called "We're Being Punked, Pedro." In the in-universe years since the end of The Vampire Diaries and the beginning of Legacies, Jeremy has become somebody who helps Alaric out in case a problem arises beyond the walls of the Salvatore School that isn't really suited for the local cops. According to series creator Julie Plec in a chat with TVLine, Jeremy is "someone out in the field."
It's not altogether surprising that Jeremy is going to turn up on Legacies. He left The Vampire Diaries as a regular back in the sixth season (and he wasn't the only one) but returned for the series finale back in 2017, albeit for a much less pivotal role than Nina Dobrev as Elena. In the finale, he could be spotted helping out at the boarding school. The stage was set for Steven McQueen to appear in Legacies.
The official description for the episode unfortunately does not give any clues about what Jeremy will be doing. Here's what The CW has released about the "We're Being Punked, Pedro" episode:
Given that Elena Gilbert has a medical practice in Mystic Falls, news that Hope, the twins, and MG will be doing community service in the town square may lead fans to wonder if Elena could turn up. That's not out of the realm of possibility, but for now, we can only count on Jeremy. We'll just have to speculate at this point about what he'll do.
There's no sign at this point that Steven McQueen has joined Legacies as more than a guest star. Still, we shouldn't rule anything out. Even death doesn't necessarily stop Jeremy from popping back into the plot when it comes to the Vampire Diaries franchise. If anything, he sounds like he could drop in and out of Legacies as needed. It's a method of handling guest stars that has worked for Supernatural for more than a decade; why not Legacies?
We'll have to wait and see. Who knows? Maybe this Vampire Diaries alum will raise the question of where that other alum is and what she's been up to. New episodes of Legacies air on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW, following episodes of Supernatural. If you're more in the mood for shows based in reality, swing by our fall TV schedule for options.
