How NBC Is Shaking Up Its Schedule For Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6
NBC just shared some good and bad news for early 2019. Brooklyn Nine-Nine will make its debut on NBC Thursday, January 10. Also, The Blacklist Season 6 just announced its premiere date. However, starting in January, the network will temporarily reduce its Thursday night comedy lineup from two hours to one.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine was cancelled by Fox after five seasons, and fans were thrilled to see NBC pick it up. Season 6 will take the Thursday 9 p.m. slot starting January 10. That's currently when Will & Grace Season 2 airs, so that show is going to move. First, The Good Place Season 3 will move from its current 8:30 p.m. time to 9:30 p.m., starting Jan. 10, for its final three episodes of this season.
(Now would be a good time to start watching the criminally low-rated The Good Place Season 3 so we can get a Good Place Season 4. Please and thank you.)
Starting January 31, after The Good Place ends its third season, Will & Grace will jump into the 9:30 p.m. slot.
I Feel Bad currently follows Will & Grace at 9:30, but it will finish its first season in December. That might mark the very end of the freshman series, since The Hollywood Reporter noted that the Sarayu Blue comedy is the lowest-rated of the Thursday lineup.
Where is NBC's fabulous Superstore in all of this? Well, NBC is moving the premiere of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's new competition series The Titan Games from Wednesday to Thursday, starting with a two-hour debut on January 3 at 8 p.m. Superstore Season 4 currently airs Thursdays at 8 p.m., but it will go on hiatus until March. The good news is that, in March, NBC will expand the Thursday comedy block back to two hours. At that point, Superstore returns, A.P. Bio begins Season 2, and new series Abby's will premiere. Those exact dates are coming later.
So that's the reshuffled Thursday comedy lineup. When Brooklyn Nine-Nine does come to NBC, shaking up the 2019 schedule, it will bring Andy Samberg back to his Saturday Night Live network. But it will also, eventually, mark the sad departure of Chelsea Peretti as Gina Linetti.

Everything involved with Brooklyn Nine-Nine has a habit of bouncing back, though, so we won't be surprised to see Chelsea Peretti again if NBC gives the show a Season 7. In the meantime, check out what else is ahead in our fall TV premiere guide.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is only one of several shows that was cancelled and then rescued by another network or platform in the 2017-2018 TV season, and it should be interesting to see how the comedy fares on the Peacock Network. Stay tuned to CinemaBlend for the latest in TV news.
Gina grew up in Massachusetts and California in her own version of The Parent Trap. She went to three different middle schools, four high schools, and three universities -- including half a year in Perth, Western Australia. She currently lives in a small town in Maine, the kind Stephen King regularly sets terrible things in, so this may be the last you hear from her.
