Hilary Duff Gives Fans Hope For A Lizzie McGuire Revival
If you were a young teen growing up in the early 2000s, you may have watched Disney Channel's original series Lizzie McGuire. So many revivals and reboots of beloved pop culture television shows have been making their way to the screen. Could Lizzie McGuire be next? Hilary Duff has given fans some hope, saying:
This is the news my heart really needed! Please, let this revival come to fruition! Hilary Duff shared the exciting and hopeful update with ET. Duff wisely tempered fans' hopes by sharing a Lizzie McGuire revival is not a definite go. The fact that conversations are even happening is something to be excited about, though.
As a diehard fan of the show, there would be something so special about revisiting Lizzie McGuire. As Hilary Duff pointed out, the Disney comedy came at an important time in many young viewers' lives. One of the major appeals rested in what a relatable teen character Lizzie was. To see how she would be handling her early-thirties would be fun to watch.
If a revival happens, where would Lizzie be in her life now? Hilary Duff weighed in, saying:
Interesting! A lot of what made Lizzie McGuire compelling was Lizzie's relationship with her mom. She had a great one. It would be intriguing to explore Lizzie being a mom, herself, as it would give her a new perspective on what hers went through.
One of the significant questions this fan wants to know is if Lizzie and Gordo are still together. The best friends got super close in The Lizzie McGuire Movie. By the end, it was safe to assume they were headed towards life as high school sweethearts. Did their burgeoning relationship survive high school? See? There are so many questions that need answering.
The good news is a revival would plant Lizzie McGuire after high school and the college years. Instead, it would focus on her life as an established adult. Is she still pursuing love or is she in a serious relationship? Is that relationship with Gordo? Maybe she and Gordo are still trying to figure things out. They could have lost touch and the revival could feature them reconnecting.

Then there is how Miranda is doing. Are she and Lizzie still BFFs? There is no reason to think they are not. In one of the few downsides to the show's excellent feature film, Miranda did not appear. Not due to any issues with Lizzie, instead a trip she went on taking her off-screen.
Another question involves what Lizzie has ended up doing professionally. Personally, it always seemed like Lizzie would get involved in fashion. Perhaps she started a career in it. There are so many directions the show could take the character.
If this revival ever gets off the ground, it would be incredible. Lizzie McGuire is one of those shows that is near and dear to many hearts. As difficult as it is to believe, the Disney show finished its two-season run nearly 15 years ago in 2004.
That is more than enough time for a lot of interest in a revival to build. It would be a personal dream come true to see it realized. In the meantime, new fall and midseason offerings should help keep Lizzie McGuire fans busy while they await another update.
