Nina Dobrev Celebrated Her 30th Birthday With Some Vampire Diaries Reunions
Nina Dobrev just turned 30, but she doesn't look a day older than teen Elena Gilbert from The Vampire Diaries. Maybe she went Method during filming and became a real vampire? Either way, she spent her big birthday milestone with some Vampire Diaries stars, proving they really will be together for eternity.
Because she could, Nina Dobrev had a Coachella-themed birthday party and photos from the bash were tagged #ninachella. The new Fam star took photos with many friends, but The Vampire Diaries fans were particularly fond of this shot, with Nina Dobrev surrounded by former co-stars Kayla Ewell and Candice King:
Look at those smiles. Kayla Ewell played Vicki Donovan on The Vampire Diaries, with Candice King as Caroline Forbes Salvatore on both TVD and The Originals. There's more, though. Their Vampire Diaries co-star Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood) was also there, along with The Vampire Diaries Universe producer Julie Plec, and many more:
The Vampire Diaries premiered in 2009, and some fans took that milestone and paired it with the new photos from Nina Dobrev's personal milestone. The comparison images may give you all the nostalgia feels. Here's one:
It's hard to believe it has been 10 years since we first met their characters, and they first formed their lasting friendships. The Vampire Diaries ended its run after eight seasons in 2017. Most of the stars left Mystic Falls for other shows, but a few (including Zach Roerig as Vicki Donovan's brother Matt) stuck around for the Vampire/Originals spinoff show Legacies.
Nina Dobrev just launched her own CBS sitcom, Fam, which is already doing pretty well in the ratings. Candice King just had a guest role as an alien on The Orville on the same night. And of course fans keep trying to get King's Vampire Diaries character Caroline to show up on the spinoff Legacies.
Kayla Ewell and Candice King also have an active podcast together called "Directionally Challenged," and fans should check it out.

Meanwhile, Nina Dobrev's ex-boyfriend/co-star Ian Somerhalder doesn't appear to have been spotted at her 30th birthday -- at least not in the #ninachella photos -- but he was recently feeling pretty nostalgic for The Vampire Diaries himself. The former Damon Salvatore actor shared a photo from the Season 7 set. He has his own new show coming up on Netflix called V-Wars. Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) also moved on with another series, Tell Me A Story on CBS All Access, but he returned to Mystic Falls to direct an upcoming episode of Legacies. (The Salvatore brothers also seemed to celebrate Somerhalder's 40th birthday milestone together in December.)
Fans will get to see the Paul Wesley-directed episode of Legacies when Season 1 continues Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. Nina Dobrev's Fam actually competes with the Vampire Diaries spinoff for half an hour, airing at 9:30 p.m. on CBS. Here's what else is airing on TV now that midseason 2019 is in full swing.
Gina grew up in Massachusetts and California in her own version of The Parent Trap. She went to three different middle schools, four high schools, and three universities -- including half a year in Perth, Western Australia. She currently lives in a small town in Maine, the kind Stephen King regularly sets terrible things in, so this may be the last you hear from her.
