Hawaii Five-0 Added Joan Collins For A Sweet Role
Hawaii Five-0 has had some famous faces grace its show throughout its run, but it's safe to say the CBS series recently bagged one of its biggest stars yet. Dynasty actress and recent American Horror Story cast member Joan Collins will be "making a splash" in a sweet guest-starring spot that casts her as the parent of one of the show's characters. Collins will play Amanda Savage, the mother of Rachel and ex-mother in law of Danny.
Viewers can expect to see Joan Collins make her Hawaii Five-0 debut in Season 9, although she won't be around until Episode 18. As for what her character Amanda Savage will be up to when she arrives, TVLine reported she'll come into town in the midst of a book tour. It appears she's an author as opposed to a passionate fan, as Amanda will enlist Danny and Steve as her last-minute security team for the event.
Amanda Savage isn't a fan of Danny, but it's been teased Joan Collins' character will take a shine to Steve. Whether Amanda is merely a fan of Steve or she'll be flirting is unknown. Either is fine, although Rachel might be embarrassed of her mother's actions in the latter situation. Whatever the case, Collins posted a picture with Scott Caan and Alex O'Loughlin, which may be a sneak peek at the two's characters in their security detail attire.
Hawaii Five-0 is the latest gig for Joan Collins, whose list of roles in Hollywood productions spans decades. She's been especially active in recent years, with an aforementioned recurring role as two characters in American Horror Story Season 8, and some appearances on the now-canceled E! series The Royals. Collins' guest spot in the CBS series may be proof she's not planning on slowing down anytime soon, and still has a lot to offer the world of television in 2019.
Of course, Joan Collins' most celebrated role comes from her time on the original Dynasty where she played Alexis Carrington Colby. The role netted Collins several nominations and awards throughout its run and made her a household name capable of still exciting audiences decades after its end. Hopefully Hawaii Five-0 acknowledges Collins' past show in some way. A crisp slap across the face of Danny considering she's not a fan would be a perfect homage to her Dynasty days!
Hawaii Five-0 fans will have to wait and see what Joan Collins does as the drama airs on CBS Fridays at 9:00 p.m. ET. It's one of the many shows running through its season at the moment so viewers would do well to see what else has returned and what is premiering by visiting our lengthy but exceptionally handy midseason premiere guide.
