Grey’s Anatomy is known for its elaborate love triangles. The one between Amelia, Owen, and Teddy is set to give the show’s most complicated triangles a run for their money. Kim Raver, who plays Teddy, has teased an upcoming development for the trio, saying:
There’s another fantastic element that gets thrown in. There’s an ‘other person’ element, and it’s fun and funny and complicated. It’s great because it’s quintessential Grey’s Anatomy where it’s not just one layer. We were just shooting a scene that was so uncomfortable and funny and great and wild.
Someone is excited about the triangle’s upcoming twists and turns! What Kim Raver teased to TVLine sounds mysterious and intriguing. Teddy and Owen are having a baby together, and Owen seems relatively set on staying with Amelia. Will Teddy be romanced by another person? Could Grey’s Anatomy be on the verge of turning this triangle into a quadrangle?
Fans will have to wait and see. Based on what Kim Raver said, we do not know the exact nature of this new ingredient. Raver was a bit coy about what this “other person element” would entail. Is it platonic or romantic? It could be the former.
Perhaps this new element relates to Teddy and Owen’s baby. Could this be the person involved in the birth plan for the baby? That could cause some of the things Kim Raver mentions and it would be a new angle in the Amelia/Owen/Teddy triangle.
There is another possibility and it could involve a previously revealed tidbit. Given how tight-lipped Kim Raver was about this “other person element,” it seems like a spoiler-sensitive story. You know what else has been spoiler-sensitive for Grey’s Anatomy? The casting of Jennifer Grey.
Remember, she is set to have an arc on Grey’s Anatomy in Season 15. It is set to be a multi-episode one too. Could Jennifer Grey be playing this new element? Or is it completely unrelated? Initial speculation had pointed to Grey playing Jo’s biological mother. So, she may be involved in a completely separate storyline.
As for the triangle itself. It is complicated. Kim Raver went on to say that she does believe Teddy still wants to be with Owen in a romantic relationship. That seemed rather apparent during a Teddy and Owen scene during Episode 9. The two shared an intensely emotional moment while discussing their baby.
What started as a friendly embrace, turned into a somewhat passionate one. As Teddy seemed ready for a kiss. Owen pulled back and reassured her, giving her a kiss on the top of her head. Thus, friend-zoning her.
In the report, Kim Raver also mentioned Teddy not wanting to come between Owen and Amelia, out of "respect" for Amelia. Ultimately, this all up to Owen to decide. Grey's Anatomy fans will have to stay tuned to learn who he chooses.
