How One Masked Singer Competitor Handled Fan Guesses Before Elimination
Spoiler Warning: The identity of the latest contestant eliminated from The Masked Singer is revealed below.
Twitter got it right. After weeks of intense guessing from fans, The Alien’s identity was unveiled in Wednesday’s episode. As it turns out, La Toya Jackson was under the costume, after all. Opening up on how she handled fan guesses before her elimination and whether she heard from fans on social media, Jackson said:
Ignoring fan theories is certainly one way to handle it. La Toya Jackson discussed her social media strategy in an interview with THR. While viewers of The Masked Singer had Jackson as one of their top guesses, the judging panel did not.
Among their guesses for The Alien’s true identity were Nicole Richie, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Paris Hilton. Clearly, they were way wrong with all of those possibilities.
With the rise of social media, it brings a new dynamic to fan theories for TV shows. Once upon a time, viewers only had those in their living room, or at work, to bounce ideas off of when it came to wild theories, but not any more.
Now, they are connected to a much broader network of fellow fans. It is like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’s “Ask the Audience” lifeline on steroids. That makes the ability to collaborate on things, such as The Masked Singer’s identities, easier.
Following the elimination of La Toya Jackson from the competition, The Masked Singer has six contestants left. Jackson went out on a high note, performance-wise, with her rendition of “Ex’s & Oh’s.” So, who among the judging panel correctly guessed The Alien’s true identity when it came down to the big reveal?

Now left competing on The Masked Singer are The Bee, The Lion, The Monster, The Peacock, and The Rabbit. Many fans suspect that The Rabbit could be Donnie Wahlberg or another boy bander. Time will tell if they are right.
For many, a lot of the fun from The Masked Singer undoubtedly comes from the guessing game it provides. There is no masking the show’s success. The Masked Singer has been a hit with viewers, and the reality competition has already been renewed for a second season. So, there will be more costumes and contestants to come in the future.
Elsewhere in her interview, La Toya Jackson talked about the intense secrecy that goes into keeping contestants’ identity a secret. Jackson shared that she has no idea who else was on the show with her. Although, she had a theory regarding one person based on their voice.
Find out if fans guess anyone else correctly when new episodes of The Masked Singer air Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Fox. The reality competition is among many shows airing new through the midseason.
