The Umbrella Academy Reportedly Is The Most Popular Streaming Show
No need for an umbrella, for the forecast for Netflix’s new series The Umbrella Academy is nothing shy of sunny. According to a recent report, the show is the most popular one streaming. Who is saying this?
The data comes from Parrot Analytics (via Dark Horse Comics). According to the firm, The Umbrella Academy came out on top of the most in-demand ten shows currently streaming. Thus, becoming what is reportedly the most popular streaming series.
Per Parrot Analytics’ chart, interest in The Umbrella Academy started low before beginning to take off in between January 20 and January 24. It did not come out until February 15. In between February 13 and February 17, the chart shows the series’ popularity skyrocketing.
The Umbrella Academy easily leads the competition, which includes fellow Netflix series Grace & Frankie. Also making the list is reportedly Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale and a Marvel doubleheader. Netflix's cancelled Marvel shows The Punisher and Daredevil are shown cracking the reported top ten.
For the last ten days, The Umbrella Academy has been building buzz, so ranking as the biggest digital series would not be entirely surprising. It is important to note that these are alleged numbers, as neither Hulu, Netflix, or any of the other platforms released this chart. Hence, it is unofficial news.
Add in the fact that the sample size for the data is unknown and you have to take this info with necessary caution. That said, Parrot Analytics’ graph does supply curious minds with a good gauge of what shows people are currently streaming across multiple platforms.
Remember, most popular does not directly translate into most-watched, so again use caution while considering these numbers. In a sign that supports the reported data, The Umbrella Academy is currently sitting atop IMDb’s list of the most popular TV shows. That ranking is determined based on IMDb users’ activity.

The Umbrella Academy is one of Netflix’s buzziest new series. It combines the family drama that comprised Netflix’s other hit, The Haunting of Hill House, with the superhero drama of its multiple now-cancelled Marvel series. The Netflix show is an adaptation of Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá’s comic book series with the same title.
The Umbrella Academy tells the tale of seven adopted siblings born on the same day and under strange circumstances. Their birth mothers showed no signs of being pregnant on the day they were born. They also have superpowers.
Adopted by a billionaire, the children are raised together and taught to fight crime using their abilities. For superhero fans in need of copious amounts of character-driven drama, The Umbrella Academy has seemingly caught on.
The Umbrella Academy is currently streaming on Netflix, among many other recently released series. There are many set to arrive during the midseason.
