Nervously awaiting the final season of Game of Thrones? Well, prepare to become just a tad bit more anxious. Gwendoline Christie, who plays Brienne of Tarth on the HBO hit, recently teased the new season. In doing so, she revealed her reaction to reading the scripts for Season 8. This is what Christie had to say:

[When I got the scripts], I was doing some work in Canada, and I woke up at 4 a.m. I checked my e-mail because I heard the scripts might be coming through, and they dropped in. And I sat there, and I read them all the way through. From the start to the end. And it was a real emotional roller coaster, because things happened that deeply startled me, upset me. I went bright red in the face. I had to put them down. I was sort of walking around. I had to go out for a walk... It was a really extraordinary experience, and I realized [showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] had pulled out all the stops for this one.

This sounds intense! It is hard to know which parts are the most alarming. That Gwendoline Christie told Good Morning America that she was “deeply startled” is near the top of the list. In a world filled with darkness, there are few things left that one could imagine someone finding startling. Apparently, Game of Thrones is about to change that.

Bad things may be coming your favorite character's way. While it may be bad news for them, it may not be bad all around. Gwendoline Christie made it clear that she believes Game of Thrones’ showrunners have striven to deliver. Given the expectations, that is saying something.

Still, Gwendoline Christie’s tease is tinged with the ominous, which is not the first time a cast member has hinted along those lines. If you are looking for a happy ending that may not be in store. Of the final episode, not to be confused with the season overall, Christie says:

At the final episode, I put it down with a very heavy heart, digesting everything that occurs. Some things are put to rights, and some things truly are not.

Wait. What? Are the Night King and his army going to destroy humanity? Is Cersei Lannister going to remain the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms? Will Brienne not have a happy ending? Or, worse yet, not survive the season? Gwendoline Christie's latter tease seems more specific than characters living and dying.

Gwendoline Christie’s comments make me think that it has to do with the overall rights and wrongs of the series. Leading one to ask: What are the things that have not gotten righted yet and who do they involve?

The Starks have been at the pointy end of the sword when it comes to many of the wrongs that been leveled. Brienne has sworn her sword to the Stark sisters. The only score they have yet to settle is with Cersei. Arya seems primed to deal with that when all is said and done.

One wrong is that Jon Snow grew up believing he was Ned Stark’s illegitimate son. When he is actually the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, superseding Daenerys’ claim to it. Is it possible that the truth will never come out? It seems doubtful.

However, stranger things have happened on Game of Thrones. Sam and Bran could rationalize that learning the truth would ruin his newfound (and incestuous) relationship with Daenerys. Maybe they choose to stay quiet?

Could Jaime and Brienne see their friendship end on an unfortunate note? That also seems doubtful. They have come a long way, and their friendship seems pretty rock solid at this point. It is all very anxiety-inducing to contemplate. Regardless, it does not sound assuring. As long as Tormund and Brienne share another scene, this fan will be happy.

Fans are about to find out for themselves as years of mystery are about to come to an end. Find out how Brienne of Tarth’s adventure concludes when Game of Thrones’ final season premieres. The end begins when Season 8 starts Sunday, April 14 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
