The Big Bang Theory Cast Shared Emotional Messages To Celebrate Final Episode's Taping
That's it. Their work is done. The Big Bang Theory has finished taping the final episode of the final season. Viewers won't get to see the results until the one-hour finale airs Thursday, May 16, but the work is done for the cast and crew. As you can imagine -- after 12 seasons over 12 years -- the stars got emotional in their farewells. They honored the end of this era of their lives with multiple posts on social media.
Jim Parsons (Dr. Sheldon Cooper) is reportedly the one who made sure The Big Bang Theory Season 12 would be the final season, since he was ready to move on. But that doesn't mean he won't be moving on with fond memories, and he honored the location where Sheldon's story was told across 12 years:
Kaley Cuoco (Penny, whose maiden name will remain a mystery) was already sobbing and speechless after the final episode table read. When it came to wrapping the series, she mostly let this photo and her emojis speak for her:
Johnny Galecki (Dr. Leonard Hofstadter) shared the flip side of Jim Parsons' photo, but couldn't find the words to say much more:
Mayim Bialik (Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler) shared a video and a heartfelt message of thanks to the viewers and writers and everyone else involved in The Big Bang Theory universe:
Kunal Nayyar (Dr. Rajesh "Raj" Koothrappali) also had a whole list of thank yous for this amazing experience:
Kevin Sussman (Stuart Bloom) shared photos with each cast member, including this one with Kaley Cuoco:

Melissa Rauch (Dr. Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz) shared this lovely group photo on Instagram, with a short but sweet message:
Wil Wheaton ended up a big part of The Big Bang Theory (and maybe he'll show up on Young Sheldon?) and even though he previously said he was done on the show, he showed up for the final taping and got as emotional as everyone else:
The Big Bang Theory finale will have two episodes airing back-to-back, and fans have a lot of questions about how the story will end for the characters. Perhaps the biggest question: Will the elevator be fixed?
After The Big Bang Theory finale from 8-9 on Thursday, May 16 -- then the Young Sheldon Season 2 finale from 9-9:30 -- there will be a special called Unraveling the Mystery: A Big Bang Farewell airing the same night at 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
