How Game Of Thrones' Gwendoline Christie Hopes Game Of Thrones Returns In The Future
Beware: spoilers for the series finale of Game of Thrones are discussed below.
Game of Thrones’ reign has ended. If you are hoping it is not over forever, Gwendoline Christie shares the sentiment. The actress who brought Brienne of Tarth to life is interested in a 10-year reunion. Citing a crucial bit of dialogue from the series finale, Christie shared her hope, saying:
If what Gwendoline Christie told The Wrap is not a bit of pick-me-up after Game of Thrones’ series finale, I do not know what is. Fans are still making their way through their thoughts and feelings regarding the final season. A ten-year reunion works for me!
I have to say that when Tyrion told Jon Snow to ask him about the way things shook out in 10 years, I did get a bit excited. There may be some way to pick the story up a decade from now. By then, the cast will have gained some distance from things. Hence, they may be willing to do a one-off two-hour movie, at least.
Asked to clarify if she was referring to a Game of Thrones reunion in 10 years, Gwendoline Christie responded:
That is so very true. Game of Thrones tied up a lot with its series ender. However, it would be interesting to explore what became of the events in the finale. Whether Brienne likes her new job. If Jon Snow is happy despite being at The Wall.
How Bran being the King of the Six Kingdoms and Sansa's rule as Queen in the North is playing out. If Arya found anything west of Westeros. How Tyrion is finding life as the Hand of the King and not having to worry about his monarch going mad, etc.

While HBO is not on board to do an Arya spinoff or sequel series, that does not mean you have to stop dreaming. Gwendoline Christie was asked about her ideas for a Brienne of Tarth spinoff. Not only did she respond; she also seemed really open to the idea. Christie said:
Unfortunately, a spinoff featuring both Brienne and Jaime is now out. Jaime died in the penultimate episode alongside his sister Cersei. Despite Jaime’s feelings for Brienne, he decided that if Cersei was a goner, so was he. That leaves a spinoff solely starring Brienne, which I would totally watch.
HBO is currently ruling out any sequel series starring members of Game of Thrones’ cast. So, for now, it seems fans will have to keep hope alive for a possible ten-year reunion. What will Brienne have been up to in that time? There is no shortage of possibilities.
When viewers last saw Brienne, she was the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. She also edited The White Book of the Kingsguard to update Jaime Lannister’s story. Thanks to Brienne, future generations will know more about her friend and lover than his reputation as "Kingslayer."
On a related note, before Game of Thrones’ final season premiered, Gwendoline Christie teased the finale. She told GMA that some things would be “put to rights, and some things truly are not.” I could not have said it better myself.
