Marvel's Runaways Just Cast Elizabeth Hurley As An Awesome Comic Villain
Marvel's Runaways has been Hulu's only tie to the MCU (for now anyway), and while it's looking like the teenage heroes' world will expand thanks some familiar Marvel heroes in Season 3, they'll for sure come in contact with a very powerful Marvel villain that could greatly open up the show's universe. Those interested need only wait for the "magic" to unfold in Season 3. Elizabeth Hurley will play the powerful enchantress Morgan le Fay.
For Marvel fans unsure of who that is, Morgan le Fay is considered one of the most powerful sorceresses of all time. Fay was originally a student of the wizard Merlin, but used her powers to become one of Marvel’s more fearsome villains. Marvel Runaways' description of her character lists that she can astral project, manipulate mystic energy, and is exceptionally intelligent and clever. She certainly sounds like a force to be reckoned with!
In Marvel comics, Morgan le Fay has been a formidable adversary to the Avengers, and a former flame of another iconic Marvel villain: Doctor Doom. It would be great to see him appear in Marvel's Runaways Season 3, and completely possible given Disney’s Fox acquisition, although fans shouldn’t really hold their breath on Doom making an appearance.
Especially when Morgan le Fay should be plenty difficult for Marvel's Runaways to handle. Fay had The Avengers on the ropes when they went up against her in the comic book world, so it’s really a great question whether or not the teens have any shot of taking her out in a battle. Luckily Fay’s weakness is iron and metals that contain iron, which may give them a fighting shot at taking her out if they have to.
News of Elizabeth Hurley’s casting and the fact that Morgan le Fay is headed to Marvel's Runaways has been well-received by fans. Some are excited and hoping Nico and Morgan go head-to-head, while others are speculating her arrival is a way to slowly work Marvel’s more supernatural characters into the fold ahead of upcoming Hulu Marvel shows like Helstrom and Ghost Rider.
As for how members of the cast are reacting, actress Annie Wersching (who plays Leslie Dean) shared her excitement about seeing Elizabeth Hurley join the show ahead of Season 3.
Elizabeth Hurley has been all around Hollywood, but audiences may more recently recognize her from her role as Queen Helena in the cancelled E! series The Royals. Those who missed out on that may know her as Vanessa from the Austin Powers films, or The Devil in the Brendan Fraser classic Bedazzled.
