Hallmark Is Kicking Off Its Christmas Movies Ridiculously Early This Year
Most TV lovers know by now that the Hallmark Channel is the best place to see new movies every Christmas season, but now the holiday party is getting started even earlier. That's right, if you need your fix of long-lost loves reuniting in the most improbably ways just in time for Christmas, then you'll be overjoyed that Hallmark is debuting two brand new holiday movies...in July.
Not content with making us wait until October for their annual Countdown to Christmas event to begin anymore, Hallmark is bringing us two new movies this summer. According to Entertainment Weekly, July 7 will see the premiere of Christmas Camp on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries at 9 p.m. EST, while Hallmark Channel will debut A Merry Christmas Match on July 13 at 8 p.m. EST. Now, let's get into what we know about the movies that will usher in the holidays when we're all still lounging around in front of our air conditioners.
Christmas Camp will focus on Hayley (Lily Anne Harrison), an advertising executive who's been tasked with landing an account with a toy company that values traditional Christmas celebrations in order for her to get a promotion. To learn more about these types of holiday traditions, she attends a Christmas camp, where she meets the owner's son, Jeff (Bobby Campo), and probably begins to lean about falling in love at Christmastime, too. Ooooh la la...
Ashley Newbrough and Kyle Dean Massey will lead A Merry Christmas Match the following week. This movie will follow Corey (Newbrough), a young woman living in a quaint and likely very picturesque ski village who works in her mother's antique store and also organizes the town's annual Christmas pageant to honor her late father. When Ryder (Massey) visits her store, however, she begins to wonder if she should have left years ago to follow her dream of becoming a theater director.
This is wonderful news, of course, but, if you're anything like me and you enjoy mainlining new Hallmark movies for several weeks leading up to Christmas each fall, then I know what you're probably thinking: Wait, if we get two new movies in July, won't that mean there will be fewer all-new holiday romances to throw myself into when the weather turns chilly? The answer, fortunately, is no; at least when compared to last year.
See, Hallmark has been upping its Christmas movie game every year. In 2017, 33 new movies debuted across each channel, and 2018 saw 38 new films hit the networks. This year? Well, we're going to be treated to a total of 40 brand spanking new snow-covered movies dedicated to romance, family and probably at least one angel, magical Santa or wish-granting Christmas cookie. Something tells me that some holiday season in the not-to-distant future will have us binging new Hallmark Christmas movies all year round.
So, are you looking forward to watching these Hallmark Christmas movies while you hang out by the pool? Let us know in the comments below!
