Over the weekend, we tragically learned that Descendants and Jessie star Cameron Boyce had passed away at the age of 20. Hollywood is still coping with the loss of the young actor, but an autopsy has been performed at this point, but no cause of death has been confirmed at the time of this writing.
Previous reports have indicated that Cameron Boyce passed away in his sleep over the weekend. Reports of his death surfaced on Sunday, noting the actor was "found unresponsive" in his home. Later, a spokesperson for Boyce’s family contributed a post that explained the actor suffered from a medical condition and that he had passed away in his sleep after suffering a seizure related to that medical condition. A recent medical report reveals the actor was pronounced dead at 2:35 p.m. at his home in North Hollywood.
Despite the note from Cameron Boyce’s family, an autopsy was performed. Now, a spokesperson speaking on behalf of the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner revealed in a document that Cameron Boyce’s cause of death is still “pending” following an investigation. More updates will be ongoing.
In the days since we learned the actor had sadly passed away, Cameron Boyce’s father has called the ordeal of learning his son was gone a “nightmare,” although he has been grateful for the kind words Boyce’s fans have sent in the aftermath of his death. He said:
I’m overwhelmed with the love and support our family has received. It really does help to ease the pain of this nightmare I can’t wake up from. I can’t thank you guys enough.
It’s not just the fans who will miss Cameron Boyce, however. A slew of celebrities, from his Grown-ups co-star Adam Sandler to those Boyce worked with on the Disney Channel, have written or spoken out regarding their love for and appreciation of the actor, who is most certainly gone too soon. Even fellow Disney alum Zendaya spoke out about the actor's death on Twitter, noting,
Absolutely heartbreaking, my heart goes out to his friends and family.
Cameron Boyce’s legacy on television will live on for some time to come, however. He will still be a major part of Descendants 3, which is expected to hit the Disney Channel on August 2. His fans will also be able to see him in Paradise City and Runt.
Although the autopsy has been completed, clearly there are still a few more tough days ahead for the family and friends of the actor. It's always rough when someone you care about passes away, but it's often harder when it is someone young whose career was just budding and whose adult life was just getting started. The spokesperson for Boyce's family previously stated the family was asking for privacy during this time of grieving.
