Surprise! Star Wars The Mandalorian Season 2 Is Already Being Developed
The Star Wars universe’s expansion will continue this fall with the premiere of the live-action series, The Mandalorian. It has not even premiered yet, and prospective fans of the series have already gotten great news! Development for Season 2 of the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars television show is already underway.
Series creator Jon Favreau subtly shared the news during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! He was asked about The Mandalorian and Favreau provided a lot of insight, including an update on the status of the show post-Season 1. Speaking about the Star Wars series and teasing how things have gone, Favreau told Kimmel:
This is exciting news! Jon Favreau is already working on the scripts for Season 2. It would seem that Favreau and Disney have high hopes for the future of the Star Wars series. Why wouldn’t they? The Mandalorian sounds incredibly promising, in my opinion.
For those who need a refresher on what it is about, here is some background on The Mandalorian. It picks up five years after Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, a.k.a. the last installment of the original film trilogy. The story centers on a lone gunfighter living in the galaxy’s Outer Reaches, putting the action far away from the New Republic.
The series stars Game of Thrones’ alum Pedro Pascal in the main role. Pascal played Oberyn Martell on the HBO series and the actor quickly became a fan favorite. Given his experience with both universes, he has shared how the HBO hit compares to Star Wars.
A major action star will join Pedro Pascal, along with Nick Nolte. The veteran actor was cast back in December. It turns out he will be taking on a super surprising character.
Classic droids are set to appear, and Taika Waititi may be voicing a classic droid character. Waititi has not been shy about sharing his enthusiasm over the project, as well as weighing in on how working on the Star Wars series varies from Marvel work.
