Krypton's Season 2 Finale Will Have A 'Huge' Tribute To Christopher Reeve's Superman
Syfy's pre-Superman drama Krypton has had a lot of fun adding in Easter eggs since the show began last year, and now star Cameron Cuffe has revealed that the Season 2 finale is going to bring out the big guns when it comes to such nods. That's right, Krypton is going to pay tribute to Christopher Reeve's Superman.
Cameron Cuffe spoke to CinemaBlend's own Jeff McCobb during San Diego Comic-Con, and the actor gave him a little tease as to what we can expect to see when the Season 2 finale rolls around. When asked if fans could expect to see any more Easter eggs this season, Cuffe replied:
Ooooh. Exciting, right! Krypton takes the action back about 200 years on the soon-to-be-doomed planet and focuses on Kal-El's grandfather, Seg-El, as he tries to redeem the family legacy. When he joins forces with those who sentenced his own grandfather to die, Seg-El embarks on a mission to protect his future and the future of Krypton, all while coming into contact with popular comic book characters like Adam Strange, Lobo (who's getting his own solo series on Syfy), Brainiac, Zod and Doomsday. All of which help make Krypton one of the best DC shows of the modern day.
As mentioned previously, Krypton has been amazing at adding in Easter eggs and other moments that diehard Superman or DC Comics fans can enjoy while watching this new adventure in Superman lore. Just this season has seen several links and moments dedicated to specific comic books, Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel, Superman: The Movie and Man of Steel, among many other cool nods to the massive history of Superman on screen and on the page.
Speaking of Man of Steel, Cameron Cuffe noted that another one of this season's coolest Easter eggs was his idea: when Seg-El 'reloads' his fists (like recent big screen Superman Henry Cavill famously did in last year's Mission: Impossible - Fallout) while preparing to fight Lobo. If you missed the awesome moment, you can check it out now, complete with side-by-side comparison:
I am going to laugh every time I watch that.
So, if you're wondering just how this Christopher Reeve tribute is going to go down, well, you're out of luck until the Season 2 finale because Cameron Cuffe knows how to keep a secret. But, you shouldn't assume that one of Reeve's biggest moments as Superman will be in play:
