Marvel's Runaways Showrunners Talk Big Crossover With Cloak And Dagger
There have been teases both on- and off-screen, but it wasn't until recently that it was confirmed that Marvel's Runaways and Cloak & Dagger will be getting a crossover episode. Now that the cat's out of the bag, Marvel's totally ready to reveal all the details behind Tyrone and Tandy's trip to Los Angeles, right?
Well, not quite, but Runaways' showrunners Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz did share some information about the long-awaited crossover with CinemaBlend's own TV Editor Nick Venable at the TCA summer tour. The duo talked about where things are at from a development standpoint currently, and how the experience has been thus far.
Schwartz added later the Runaways and Cloak & Dagger crossover will delight fans of crossovers, while Stephanie Savage mentioned the comic book fans will get a kick out of it as well. Comic references are sure to happen, given that Marvel comics has often put Cloak and Dagger in various adventures with the Runaways over the years. Going back to fans of crossovers, obviously this is a plus as Marvel television crossovers are always an exciting event.
Especially in the case of Cloak & Dagger and Runaways, due to the connections both have to the MCU and other Marvel shows. Cloak & Dagger has had plenty of references to the cancelled Netflix Marvel shows, so crossing Cloak and Dagger over to Runaways extends that connection to the Hulu original. Could this all be laying the groundwork for a future crossover that features a former star of Daredevil, Luke Cage, or one of the other shows?
Before it gets into all that, Runaways will first have to see how things go with its first crossover guest stars. Fortunately for Marvel fans, Josh Schwartz had nothing but positive things to say about how the Cloak & Dagger stars are melding with the Runaways crew.
As Josh Schwartz said, Runaways and Cloak & Dagger both have a different tone. With that being said, he makes it sound like Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph are fitting in quite well even if Tandy and Tyrone may be like fish out of water in their jump from New Orleans to Los Angeles. Of course we don't know they'll feel that way for sure, and perhaps both will like L.A. enough to stick around for more adventures in the future?
