Is Legacies Giving Hope More Than One New Love Interest In Season 2?
Legacies managed to find time for relationship drama in Season 1 despite all of the supernatural mysteries, betrayals, Hope's past, and developments regarding The Merge, and that's not going to change in Season 2. We already knew that Lizzie would be getting a love interest, and a wholly separate love triangle is in the works involving Hope and Landon, but now Season 2 is seemingly shaping up to give Hope not one but two new love interests.
Although Hope will dealing with the difficult reality of Landon moving on to somebody new while she technically no longer exists to anybody at the Salvatore School, she'll attract the attention of two newcomers. Two characters at Mystic Falls High School will develop a crush on Hope, according to TVLine. The twist? These two characters are siblings: sister Maya and brother Ethan. Now, Maya has been cast.
Bianca Santos of The Fosters fame landed the role of Maya, whose mother is Sheriff Mac. The role will be recurring and described by Deadline as "pivotal," which certainly suggests that Maya will be a significant character in the new season. No announcement has yet been made about who will play Ethan or Sheriff Mac for Legacies Season 2.
To me, what is especially interesting about the news that two new people will have their eye on Hope in Season 2 -- other than the fact that they'll apparently be siblings competing for the affections of one person -- is that they're students at Mystic Falls High School. Most of the action in Season 1 went down at the Salvatore School, with most of the teen characters as witches, vampires, or werewolves attending the school. And also Landon, who is something else entirely.
Legacies And Supernatural 'Could Absolutely' Have A Crossover, According To Julie Plec
Do these two characters from Mystic Falls High confirm at least some of what actor Matt Davis seemingly spoiled about Alaric and Hope in Season 2? He teased that Alaric may become principal at Mystic Falls High School after being ousted from the Salvatore School at the end of Season 1, may be getting a new love interest himself in the form of the new sheriff, and may reconnect with Hope early on, although not remembering her as the Hope he'd known before. Davis was careful not to 100% confirm these details, but I'm assuming that he wasn't joking around on a fair amount of what he said.
So, do these new Mystic Falls High students mean that Hope will become enamored with one or both of them, perhaps winding up in her own love triangle? Not necessarily. Her heart belonged to Landon at the end of Season 1, and she won't have forgotten him even though he's forgotten her. I don't know that I see her moving on to a new romance, at least early in Season 2. Besides, she does have larger concerns than which of a pair of siblings she finds dreamier.
