First Look At Yellowstone Season 3 Reveals A Big Kiss, New Characters And More
Warning: spoilers lie ahead for the Season 2 finale of Yellowstone, called "Sins of the Father."
The Season 2 finale of Yellowstone only just aired, and Paramount Network isn't keeping fans hanging without nothing to sustain them over the hiatus ahead before Season 3. A first look at the upcoming third season has already been released, and it teases the aftermath of what happened to Tate, a big kiss, new characters, and more. Yellowstone set up a very different Season 3 with the Season 2 finale, and the new footage is proof that viewers are in for some changes. Take a look!
"Sins of the Father" may not have been the most upbeat of episodes -- what will all the tears, deaths, and traumatized child -- but the first look at Season 3 suggests that there are some good times ahead. For one thing, the Season 2 hints that Beth and Rip were on their way back to a relationship that culminated in the finale will apparently turn into a full-blown romance!
They're seen sharing a kiss in the new video. Is it a big, epic, grand kiss that will go down in TV history as among the most mind-blowing? No. But is it absolutely huge for the characters? Definitely.
The footage gives a good look at the new character to be played by Josh Holloway as well. His character will evidently become entangled with Beth, although perhaps not the kind of entangled he's hoping for. When Holloway was cast, the character was described as "handsome" and "charming" as a hedge fund manager, with ambitious plans in Montana. He'll recur in Season 3, so it makes sense that he appears in the first look. He'll be a big part of the action!
Wes Bentley, who plays Jamie Dutton, also teases an exciting new female character. Will she shed some light on why Beth hates Jamie so much? Bentley seems to think that this character will be fun and funny more than anything else, so maybe she'll get to stay out of their mysterious animosity.
At least some of the changes for Season 3 are apparently happening directly because of what happened at the end of Season 2. According to Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton, Season 3 will allow viewers to "heal with" the Duttons a little bit after the intensity and violence of Season 2.

Kevin Coster, a.k.a. John Dutton himself, states that they're all "bruised" from what happened, so John has altered his behavior. I can only imagine what that means! At least he probably won't have the Becks around anymore. At last, he definitely won't have Teal around. The Season 2 finale didn't definitively confirm that Malcolm was dead or alive, even if he did look well on his way to dead.
Of course, this isn't even technically a trailer, so there are still lots of questions that need to be answered. First and foremost, I want to know how Tate is doing after his awful experiences in "The Sins of the Father." His screams in the episode as Kayce tried to reassure and hug him were heartbreaking. Then there's the question of what happened to Malcolm, and how/if the Duttons get to keep the ranch. They still seem to be at the ranch in the first look footage, but it surely can't be simple, right?
