After a season's worth of teases and speculation, Ziva David will return to NCIS for Season 17. For those who can't wait a minute longer to see the fan favorite character back in action don't worry, we have some good news. Some first images of Ziva in the season opener have released!
What's better is that Gibbs is no longer in the weeds about the former team member he thought was dead. Ziva and Gibbs seem to interact plenty in the NCIS Season 17 premiere and seem to get filthy along the way. More on that later. For now, here's the two having a lovely reunion in which Gibbs looks pretty casual despite seeing Ziva back from the dead.
Well, the good news is Gibbs isn't brooding or pissed. That probably means he's just happy to see Ziva again, and may not be so upset that Bishop kept the fact that she was alive from him for so long. Ziva also seems pretty chill, which is also a little unexpected considering she was off the grid in order to keep her family safe. Does she have assurance DiNozzo and her daughter are safe?
That we don't know for now. What we do know is that things get messy for Gibbs and Ziva in "Out of the Darkness," as the two appear to have a lot of smudge on their face in this latest look. What, you thought from that mention earlier the two were going to have some sort of romance?
Looks like the two just got off a shift down at the old coal mine, or maybe narrowly escaped a fire or explosion. I'm inclined to think the latter, not least because NCIS probably didn't bring back Ziva for a mining sideplot. Whatever happened, Ziva and Gibbs wind up in a room with a whole bunch of guns and knives on display. How very NCIS!
Again, we're left to speculate on what exactly is happening in the Season 17 premiere, but it's good to see that Ziva is back on Team Gibbs or at least working with them. It won't be the only time either, as Season 17 will feature Ziva appearing quite a few times, and probably delivering plenty of no-nonsense glares like the one seen below.
Unfortunately, there's still no official word on whether or not Michael Weatherly will pop on for a DiNozzo reunion with Cote de Pablo's Ziva David. That said, one would think it wouldn't be the hardest thing to pull off given the actor's relationship with CBS, so it's by no means impossible. For now, let's just be happy NCIS actually convinced Cote de Pablo to return!
