Gwen Stefani Calls A Voice Contestant 'Magical' As She Gets Emotional Onstage
A Voice contestant made coach Gwen Stefani emotional onstage as she declared them “magical.” It happened during Night 4’s Battle Rounds, a part of the singing competition where a coach has members of their team perform together. The winner of the Battle then gets to advance. Who garnered the high praise? That would be Rose Short.
Gwen Stefani was visibly moved as she declared The Voice's Rose Short “magical” during this Tuesday’s episode. The stirring moment came after Short had competed with fellow Team Gwen member, Jessie Lawrence, in the Battle round. The duo had collaborated on an epic duet cover of The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face.”
As viewers waited to hear who would be declared the winner of the Battle round, The Voice’s coaches were united in their praise. Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Blake Shelton all gave rave reviews of Rose Short and Jessie Lawrence’s incredible cover of the hit song. Gwen Stefani went last, and as she reflected on their powerful performance, she praised Short, saying:
It was an emotional appraisal of what I also thought was an electrifying performance from Rose Short and Jessie Lawrence. In her assessment, Gwen Stefani pointed out that it was not solely Short’s vocal prowess that had earned her awe. It was The Voice contestant herself. Stefani also had lovely things to say about Jessie Lawrence, which brought us to a massive cliffhanger.
Sadly, there can only be one winner of The Voice’s Battle. It was between Rose Short and Jessie Lawrence to advance in the competition. In the end, Gwen Stefani declared Rose Short the winner of the highly-lauded Battle. However, she used her save to keep Jessie Lawrence in the competition.
Gwen Stefani’s decision means that this is not the last Voice viewers have heard from either of the much-loved singers. Rose Short and Jessie Lawrence will both continue in the competition. You can check out Short and Lawrence’s highly lauded performance for a reminder of why that is such great news!
You have to believe that the chance to see such remarkable performances in person is something former Voice coach Adam Levine also misses. Getting to watch them is something his replacement, Gwen Stefani, has gained a shot at. It does not get any better than watching from one of the red chairs!
