Supernatural Will Bring Back A Character After More Than Ten Years In Final Season
After 15 seasons, Supernatural is finally saying farewell. The long-running CW series has a lot to tackle before the series finale, though. With so many characters having appeared on the show throughout the seasons, Supernatural could see the return of several. But, although co-showrunner Andrew Dabb admits that the Ghostfacers won’t be returning, fans can bet on another past character to make an appearance in Season 15.
Supernatural has always found a way to isolate Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles). Whether it’s killing off both of their parents or removing key characters from their lives, the brothers Winchester have had to rely on each other more than most. Still, the boys would be dead (permanently, anyway) if they didn’t have help from Castiel (Misha Collins), Bobby (Jim Beaver) and a host of other friends they’ve made along the way.
Given that Season 15 will be Supernatural’s last, co-showrunner Andrew Dabb is pulling out all the stops. Speaking with TVLine, Dabb says that fans should expect another character from Supernatural’s past to reappear in Season 15.
It’s not really surprising that another character is set to return, especially considering that the final season is functioning a lot like a trip down Supernatural memory lane. However, there are so many old characters to choose from that it’s a bit hard to speculate about who this returning person might be.
I’m banking on the return of Ellen Harvelle (Samantha Ferris), who was last seen in the Season 6 alternate reality episode “My Heart Will Go On.” In that episode, the Titanic never sank and Ellen and Bobby were married. However, in Supernatural reality, Ellen and her daughter, Jo, died tragically in Season 5’s midseason finale, “Abandon All Hope...”
Additionally, the series is also bringing back Sam and Dean’s missing and often forgotten half-brother, Adam Milligan (Jake Abel). The poor guy’s been stuck in Lucifer’s cage since the end of Season 5 and the show has made little mention of him ever since he disappeared into the pit in “Swan Song.”
Since Supernatural introduced other worlds in Season 14 and found a way to bring back Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith), even long-dead characters could find their way back to the show. The series is even introducing an alternate Dean in Season 15 (just don’t expect it to be like the Arrow-verse’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths”).

This scruffy -- and possibly evil -- version of the eldest Winchester brother will hail from an entirely different world. That also means there’s a chance fans could see an alternate version of Sam. The possibilities are endless. Who do you think will return?
