Supernatural's Jared Padalecki Arrested For Alleged Assault At Club
As Supernatural is in the midst of its final season, one of its stars Jared Padalecki has found a bit of trouble with the law. Padalecki, who plays Sam Winchester on The CW series, was arrested over the weekend for an alleged assault at a club in Austin, Texas. Here's what we know about the situation so far.
Jared Padalecki was at the Stereotype Bar in Austin when authorities were called to the scene. In a video obtained by TMZ, Padalecki is seen putting a man in a headlock on the sidewalk outside the bar, and then talking to authorities while shifting his stance quite frequently. The video shows Padalecki holding something in his hand while talking to police at one point in the video, which eyewitnesses on the scene alleged was a wad of cash.
The Supernatural star was allegedly restrained by authorities at some point during the exchange, then the video cuts to Jared Padalecki being helped into the back of a cop car. He's facing two two counts of assault and one count of public intoxication. Padalecki's bail was set at $15,000, or around $5,000 for each charge.
There are other things that were alleged but not seen in the video, such as reports that Jared Padalecki struck a bartender in the face. The man in the headlock is said to be a friend of Padalecki, who was trying to calm him down after the situation. Padalecki also reportedly struck the general manager of the bar at one point, though it's unclear exactly if that took place before or after the police showed up.
Jared Padalecki is said to be a regular at the bar and, of course, Twitter is coming through with the receipts. A photo has emerged of Padalecki at the bar's grand opening a year ago, leading to some questions about his connection to the establishment. Padalecki is said to be a regular, but some other sources have said Padalecki has some investment stake in the bar.
Obviously we don't know the full details of the situation, but suffice to say this incident has created a blot on what's been a solid news cycle for Supernatural in its final season. Jared Padalecki has been absent from social media since the incident, and it will be interesting to see if he makes some sort of statement regarding the situation in the near future. It'll also be interesting to see whether or not this incident affects any future opportunities he has lined up.
