It may surprise some, but The Little Mermaid Live! is not the first time that John Stamos has portrayed Chef Louis. He previously played the part for the Hollywood Bowl’s 2016 production. Now a television audience will get a chance to see Stamos reprise the role in ABC’s live musical.
John Stamos sounds excited to show Little Mermaid Live! viewers the outlandish side of Chef Louis. An interpretation of the character as more than a little crazy shouldn't surprise longtime Little Mermaid fans. It sounds like Chef Louis’ madness has not been lost on John Stamos. He points out that a careful analysis of the chef reveals he is not all there. Again, how did Prince Eric miss this in the vetting process? Anyway, Stamos is also vowing to portray the core essence of the character in The Little Mermaid Live!, which bodes well.
Viewers who are excited to see John Stamos’ take on the iconic character do not have that much longer to wait. The Little Mermaid Live! is only days away. It airs on November 5! Just a reminder, the live musical is not to be confused with the live-action movie that is currently in the works.
The Little Mermaid Live! is going to follow in the footsteps of other live television musicals, such as Fox’s recent Rent adaptation. However, ABC’s will be a hybrid production that melds being a live musical with the original animated movie. It should be fun!
