Project Runway Season 18 Is Making A Major Change Fans Should Love
Brace yourself, Project Runway fans! Season 18 is making a significant change that you should love! The reality competition is poised to return, and it will do so in high fashion thanks to a former accessory making its trendy return. Do not worry, you will love what the Bravo series has planned. That is because it is bringing back a former feature!
Okay, enough hype. Time for this bit of news to strut its stuff! Project Runway will be bringing back the “Tim Gunn Save” for mentor Christian Siriano. Hence, it will be retooled as the “Siriano Save.” It has a ring to it! The feature allows Christian Siriano to save one eliminated designer and bring them back into the heat of the competition, per Bravo.
Longtime fans will remember that the “Tim Gunn Save” was brought into play during Gunn's run on Project Runway. Tim Gunn left the series back in Season 16. Project Runway’s Season 4 winner, Christian Siriano, subsequently took over as the show’s mentor for Season 17. He will return for the series’ upcoming eighteenth installment.
While Christian Siriano has shared some aspects that have separated him and Tim Gunn as judges on Project Runway, this news gives them something in common. Whether or not Siriano and Gunn would have saved the same designer, if faced with the same circumstances, is another matter. This news does mean that someone who went from the low of getting eliminated will get a second chance at fashion glory.
CinemaBlend’s Gina Carbone felt like the Season 17 finale redeemed the season for her. Will this news bring further redemption for long-time fans of Project Runway? Time will tell, as sixteen new contestants will be vying for their chance to win! They will be joined by returning host Karlie Kloss, who replaced former host, Heidi Klum.
Season 18’s judges will be Nina Garcia, Brandon Maxwell, and Elaine Welteroth. Interestingly, Project Runway is bringing back the save feature as another reality show recently introduced its own version. This year, well after Project Runway had introduced the feature, Dancing with the Stars did something similar for Season 28. Fans will have to see if it gets used less controversially by Christian Siriano.
Along with waiting to see which contestant returning mentor Christian Siriano will save, there is a lot to look forward too, including the possibility of other changes! Will there be no more “old lady” insults? Stay tuned. It is certainly something many Project Runway fans are ready to be done with.
