Ellen And Charlize Theron Geeking Out Over The Bachelor Will Make Your Day
It's no secret that a large portion of the American public simply looooves watching The Bachelor and its sister shows, The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise. The need for these shows is so strong that not only do hard core fans refer to themselves as being a part of Bachelor Nation, but the franchise's producers and ABC have set another spinoff, The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart, to debut in April. And, because celebrities are also members of the American public, it makes sense that famous folk like Charlize Theron and Ellen DeGeneres would geek out over the show just like us regular people.
Charlize Theron stopped by Ellen recently to discuss her new, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award nominated film, Bombshell. Before the conversation turned to that more serious topic, though, Ellen DeGeneres felt like she had to speak to Theron about something they both seem to love: The Bachelor. As Bachelor Nation knows, pilot Peter Weber's run as the titular rose-giver began on Monday, so now's as good a time as any to fangirl over the new season. Take a look; their Bachelor conversation starts at the 4:27 mark:
Now, when DeGeneres first inquired about Peter Weber, and mentioned that Theron has a crush on him, her response of, "Ooooooohhhhhh," didn't really sound that sincere. But, I'm sure you noticed that when DeGeneres pressed the issue a bit and asked if Theron really did like him, it took a bit long for her to answer. I know she claimed she doesn't actually want to date Peter "windmill sex" Weber, but she was awfully excited about spotting a simple poster of him before The Bachelor started airing.
Of course, Charlize Theron wouldn't be the only woman in Bachelor Nation who isn't competing for Peter Weber's heart, but maybe has some feelings for him. Lots of people fell for the guy while he was on Hannah Brown's season of The Bachelorette, including Brown, who kept him around through the fantasy suite dates and a very excitable time in a windmill. In a season that was filled with some seriously undesirable men, Weber remained steadfast in his devotion to Brown and also managed to stay out of all the drama in the mansion.
Much like Ellen DeGeneres notes later in the interview, I'm sure many fans of the Bachelor franchise start as casual observers, only to find themselves sucked in by the drama, the likeability of the leads, those insanely adventurous dates or the simple promise of watching more than a few make-out sessions. Peter Weber's season has only just begun, and in three hours we've already seen plenty of the above which would justify new fans coming into the fold.
And, we've been told that things on Weber's season will only get wilder. Hannah Brown came back on the premiere to talk out some tough stuff that's going to carry into next week. The ladies in the mansion are already dramatically dividing themselves between "The Cats" and "The Rats." Weber is so open-minded that it will, supposedly, be tough to nail down who he chooses at the end. And, on top of all that, the finale is said to be a "wild, turbulent" affair that won't be normal for the franchise.
It sounds like there will be a lot more instances where Theron can go back and re-watch some of the craziness, because we are definitely in store for all of that "turbulence" that she likes.
