Flash Fans In Awe That DC Managed To Keep Ezra Miller's Crisis On Infinite Earths Cameo A Secret
"Crisis On Infinite Earths" just concluded, and the back half of The CW's mega crossover featured such a massive surprise that no one should have been able to keep it quiet. In what was the biggest surprise cameo the special had done yet, Grant Gustin's Flash came face to face with Ezra Miller's Flash from the DCEU. It was a mind melting moment that should've leaked well before the on-screen reveal, and Arrow-verse fans are still in awe that it remained a complete surprise until then.
Apparently, fans weren't the only ones out of the loop on this major moment. Supergirl star Melissa Benoist revealed on her social media that she and the majority of the cast had absolutely no idea Ezra Miller would appear during the special, and fans are giving The CW major props for keeping the secret on lock down.
Melissa Benoist is right to be shocked because it's rare that leaks don't spoil the average Arrow-verse show. Secrets about Arrow, The Flash and others come out all the time, though not all of them are reliable. For the record, a leak did surface back in 2019 that a DCEU character would be featured in "Crisis In Infinite Earths," but the leak specified it would be done with pre-existing footage from a DC movie.
No one predicted a star from the movies to do an original scene, which is why the reveal set the internet on fire. The receipts popped up as well, just to squash any speculation that Ezra Miller didn't do his entire bit from a green screen and not right alongside Grant Gustin.
For those who may not follow the Arrow-verse, Ezra Miller's appearance was a huge deal. It was the first real connection between The CW shows and the modern DCEU movies, and a fan service of sorts that confirmed the multiverse truly does contain all the DC properties. Even if they never directly interact again across Earths, it’s all connected!
The only way that connection exists now is because of a scene shared by Ezra Miller and Grant Gustin. The two Barry Allens managed to remain tight lipped until the reveal, and then Gustin popped up on Instagram with pictures and kind words for Miller for taking part in the special.
Everyone was surprised by Ezra Miller’s appearance, but, honestly, Arrow-verse fans should’ve seen it coming. Year after year The CW has managed to raise the bar on these mega-crossovers, and every year they do just keep getting better. I’m not sure how they’ll possibly top it next season, but at this point, I’m willing to bet they’ll think of something.
