Baby Kenobi? Ewan McGregor Watched The Mandalorian As Prep For His Own Star Wars Series
Already know and love Baby Yoda? Is there room in your heart for Baby Kenobi? Jimmy Fallon was just joking, so it is not happening. But what a mental image! What is taking place is Ewan McGregor watching Disney+’s The Mandalorian to prep for his own Star Wars series.
Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show is coming to Disney+, and McGregor is doing his homework. What better show to get ready with than The Mandalorian? Exactly. McGregor was a guest on The Tonight Starring Jimmy Fallon when he shared an update on how his Disney+ series is coming along, telling Fallon:
Imagine that watching The Mandalorian is part of prepping for your next job and how much fun that would be! Ewan McGregor is doing it to connect with what is going on in the Star Wars franchise. As he indicated to Jimmy Fallon, it has been a long time since McGregor starred in a Star Wars film.
Ewan McGregor mentions it being 2003. However, Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith actually came out in 2005, which currently makes it 15 years since the actor played the famous Jedi. McGregor was only two years off, though, and maybe he was including filming time. In some related good news, McGregor is still saying that his Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series is set to start filming in 2021!
A beginning date that he recently shared, following news of the TV show getting delayed. The update also came after a false rumor began circulating about the show getting cancelled. In related happenings, Ewan McGregor was keen on Jimmy Fallon’s Baby Kenobi joke, a spinoff of The Mandalorian fan-favorite, Baby Yoda. Joking about the possibility of Baby Kenobi, McGregor said:
How adorable! Could somebody be working on that fan art like they did with Baby Jabba? Time will tell. Star Wars fans are dedicated, so it is not beyond the realm of possibility to think someone is conjuring it. I would be curious to see an imagining of Baby Kenobi, especially with a mini lightsaber in hand!
It is something to keep the imagination going as fans await the much-anticipated series. As previously revealed, the Obi-Wan continuation was initially slated to be a movie before shifting gears to existence as a television show. For those who think his story continuing on TV is a more optimal avenue, it is a welcome development.
