Chicago P.D. Vet Elias Koteas' Next Major TV Role Since One Chicago Has Been Revealed
Elias Koteas has landed his first major TV role since his stint playing Alvin Olinsky on Chicago P.D. and the rest of the shows that make up NBC's One Chicago lineup, including Chicago Med, (briefly) Chicago Justice, and Chicago Fire. Koteas has now been cast in Goliath, Amazon’s hit legal drama, in a recurring Season 4 role, trading his badge for a suit.
The actor is set to play Tom True, the co-founding partner of the prestigious law firm Margolis & True. Per Deadline, Koteas’ character will find himself at odds with several of the law firm’s most notable clients. Goliath stars Billy Bob Thornton as disgraced lawyer Billy McBride who seeks redemption and revenge after being ousted from his job. Thornton even won a Golden Globe for the role in 2017.
Elias Koteas joins Goliath’s fourth and final season alongside three other actors, including S.W.A.T.’s Obba Babatundé, Madame Secretary’s Goeffrey Arend, and Dead to Me’s Brandon Scott. The latter two have been cast in series regular roles, with Arend playing a charming defense attorney named Griffin Petock and Scott set to play Margolis & True’s ambitious senior associate Robert Bettencourt.
Chicago P.D. shocked many fans when the show killed off Elias Koteas’ Olinsky, who died of his stab wounds in the drama’s Season 5 finale. The actor had been with the show since its inception, starring in over 100 episodes. He also appeared in a handful of episodes of Chicago Med and Chicago Fire, playing the same character across all of the interconnected One Chicago dramas.
Amazon renewed Goliath for its fourth and final season last November, which will likely air at some point this year. However, a scheduled release date has not yet been confirmed by Amazon. While Elias Koteas is set to recur in Goliath’s fourth season, it’s unclear exactly how many episodes the actor will be in.
Goliath has reportedly been a big hit for Amazon. At the time of its Season 4 renewal, Amazon Studio’s Co-Head of Television Vernon Sanders confirmed that the series has been one of Prime Video’s “most popular shows” in a statement via Deadline. In addition to that, Amazon reported that Goliath was indeed the streamer’s most-binged first season of any original series back in 2017, which was unexpected considering how many other notable shows the streamer has.
Goliath Season 4 doesn’t have a scheduled premiere date yet, but fans can stream all three seasons of the show on Amazon Prime to catch up. Stay tuned to CinemaBlend for more updates on the series and Elias Koteas’ role. In the meantime, be sure to check out our 2020 midseason schedule for more on what to watch. Sadly, Koteas is unlikely to be able to return to Chicago P.D. considering his character's fate, so hopefully Goliath showcases him.
