The Bachelorette 2020 Spoilers Confirm ABC's New Lead And She's A Polarizing Choice
MAJOR SPOILERS ahead from The Bachelor 2020, aka Bachelor Peter Weber's Season 24, and The Bachelorette 2020, aka Season 16!
We all know by now that Peter Weber's season of The Bachelor has been a roller coaster of tears, arguments, mysteries, ultimatums, bad decisions and head wounds, with many fans not enjoying Peter or most of his women. And, that's me being nice and putting the feelings of Bachelor Nation as mildly as possible. So, a major questions has been, just who might The Bachelorette 2020 be, if the fanbase is sour on just about everyone Peter dated? Yesterday brought the rumor that someone who hasn't been seen on the franchise for two whole years had been chosen, and now spoilers are confirming the news. Clare Crawley is our new Bachelorette! But, not everyone is happy about it.
Let's back up just a bit and get into how we know that one of the rejects (sorry ladies) from Peter's season won't be chosen, and this rumor-to-spoiler business isn't all just a big mistake. Well, yesterday also brought the news (yes, actual news) that instead of waiting for the end of Peter's season to reveal the next Bachelorette, ABC and the producers are going to make the announcement this coming Monday on Good Morning America.
If that's happening, we know none of the last women we saw Peter with during fantasy suites (Hannah Ann, Madison, Victoria) are going to be chosen, because we still don't know how that rose ceremony turned out.
Spoilers from Reality Steve have already told us that Kelley (one of the best ladies from Peter's season) is out, and Hannah Brown apparently wanted more money to return for another round of Bachelorette madness (good riddance), so we were left with the possibility of Kelsey leading the show. You remember Kelsey, right? Kelsey of the champagne freakout? Kelsey of the many tears? Kelsey who started sounding sane right before Peter dumped her? Yeah! That Kelsey. Well, she appears to have not made the final cut, because this morning we were treated to this:
There you have it! But, now that spoilers have confirmed that Clare Crawley will lead The Bachelorette this year, it turns out that it's a pretty divisive choice. We are quite used to the leading ladies being in their early-30s at most (and even that is a stretch usually), but Clare is currently 38. Not to mention that women on the franchise seem to be getting younger and younger with each season of The Bachelor. And, some people are simply not willing to put up with this slightly older female lead stuff.
Ouch! That was cold, OK? It's not like the woman is 99-years-old! From the responses to this news, assuming that the spoilers are correct and Clare Crawley will be our Bachelorette, viewership for this season will be a real toss up. For everyone that hates the fact that she's older, there seems to be at least one person who loves it.

One of the main complaints from Peter's time as The Bachelor has been that the women, who were mired in ridiculous in-fighting from the beginning, were mostly too young and immature for this experience. A lot of people think having Clare Crawley as Bachelorette will make her a better lead.
As noted above, we haven't seen Clare in Bachelor Nation for two years, which is a big change from the standard pattern of choosing a lead from the previous season of The Bachelor. She was the runner-up during Bachelor Juan Pablo Galavis' Season 18 in 2014, showed up for the first two rounds of Bachelor in Paradise, and then headed to Bachelor Winter Games in 2018. Obviously, some folks are pissed that Clare hasn't been on screen more recently, which has led to some back-and-forth among fans.
I mean, some people, are really, really hating on this Clare Crawley idea...
Wooooo, boy. It's rough out here for a Bachelorette, isn't it? But, again, all those people complaining about Clare Crawley's age and lack of visibility in the franchise the past few seasons are quickly drowned out by opposing views. Honestly, I'm really looking forward to watching some slightly less young people find love for once. The idea that all of these singles who are right out of college can't find anyone is preposterous, while someone Clare's age has been at it for a while and deserves an oddball chance like The Bachelorette to find her one-and-only.
Though, I will say, if nothing else will get you excited for Clare Crawley as The Bachelorette, because you think she's too old or you simply don't know who she is, well, this should do it:
I mean, WHAT?! I have no idea what this is about, but if ol' girl is bringing a raccoon to The Bachelorette, I'm watching!
