John Krasinski's Second YouTube Show Is Here And This Time There's Hamilton Involved
As the public continues to self-quarantine in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, many are finding new ways to spread some positivity during this time. One of those people is actor John Krasinski, who has formed his own YouTube show, using positive news stories submitted by his social media followers. Krasinski’s first show included several heartwarming stories and a reunion with his The Office co-star Steve Carrell, but this latest show had something that Hamilton fans are sure to love.
After starting the show by premiering a new and improved intro and sharing a number of feel good stories, John Krasinski shared a tweet from a mother who explained that her family had to miss a performance of Hamilton, which was meant to be a birthday present for her 9-year-old daughter. Instead, the family watched Mary Poppins Returns together.
Well, John Kransinski then welcomed the young girl to the show and would also be joined by his wife and Mary Poppins Returns star Emily Blunt. Together, they revealed that they would fly the young girl and her mother to New York to see Hamilton on Broadway once things settle down.
But the surprises didn’t stop there. As the three chatted about Hamilton and Mary Poppins, Lin-Manuel Miranda Zoomed into the show to meet the young fan. Not only that, but Miranda would treat her to a rendition of Hamilton’s opening song “Alexander Hamilton” featuring the original Broadway cast!
That’s right. Anthony Ramos, Daveed Diggs, Phillipa Soo, and Okieriete Onaodowan were among those that joined in on the surprise. You can check out the amazing performance down below:
If we’re all being honest, that stunned reaction would probably be anyone of us if the cast of Hamilton were to serenade us. John Krasinski has had some nice surprises on Some Good News so far, but this latest episode takes the cake.
Having originally premiered in 2015, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s critically acclaimed Hamilton appears to be more popular than ever, and Disney is hoping to keep the momentum going. Earlier this year, the studio announced its plans to distribute a filmed performance of the musical for the big screen, which will include the original cast.

On top of his Hamilton-related ventures, Lin-Manuel Miranda has been busy producing other projects, including a theatrical adaption of In the Heights. Unfortunately, production on the film has been delayed due to the coronavirus situation.
One thing that can be said about all of this is that John Krasinski is certainly making waves with Some Good News, and adding a little bit of Hamilton to the mix seems to be just what it needed. Let’s hope we get to see more fun and heartwarming moments like this as the show continues. Hamilton’s theatrical release is scheduled for October 15, 2021.
