Star Wars The Clone Wars’ Dave Filoni Addresses Those Ahsoka Tano In The Mandalorian Rumors
Ahsoka Tano’s story in Star Wars: The Clone Wars is about to come to an explosive end with the “Siege of Mandalore” story arc. Although, this doesn’t appear to be the end for the character in the Star Wars universe as a whole. Reports have claimed that Ahsoka will make the jump to the live-action medium in Disney+’s The Mandalorian and will be played by Rosario Dawson. No one from Disney or Lucasfilm has formally addressed the reports but, now, Clone Wars creator and Mandalorian producer Dave Filoni is weighing in.
When asked about the chances of fans seeing Ahsoka in The Mandalorian, Filoni played coy, lamenting the amount of reports and rumors that have been circulating. He did, however, admit that there are plenty of live-action possibilities for the character:
Filoni definitely wasn’t keen on giving a straight answer when talking to EW, which could mean that Ahsoka is indeed going to be joining the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda. Filoni is a master secret keeper and has played coy before.
Having co-created Ahsoka Tano with George Lucas, Dave Filoni is very protective of the character and has guided her path since conception. This could also be why he’s been somewhat hesitant to add her to a live-action project.
He’s brought the character a long way from her debut in 2008’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars film. She initially began as a padawan to Anakin Skywalker but, in time, she became a mature and capable Jedi Knight who’s now taken on Darth Maul. Bringing her into The Mandalorian could be risky, but it would also be a nice way to add even more to her characterization.
Even after Dave Filoni’s comments, we still can’t say for sure if Ahsoka will actually show up in The Mandalorian. But the fact that Filoni pretty much avoided the question means that it may not be long before we see Ahsoka in all of her live-action glory.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is currently streaming on Disney+ as is the first season of The Mandalorian.
