The Masked Singer Season 3 Has Crowned Its Winner After Another Season Of Easy Clues
Warning! The following contains spoilers for The Masked Singer Season 3 finale. Read at your own risk!
The Masked Singer Season 3 has finally come to a close, and what a finale it was. The Frog, Turtle, and Night Angel battled it out for the big trophy, but only one could reign supreme. The contestants were whittled down with two separate votes, and after all was said and done, Night Angel was crowned the winner.
Unfortunately that was one of the only surprises of The Masked Singer finale, as the fandom at large was confident on the remaining identities of each contestant. The Frog (who got far in the competition despite rapping as opposed to singing) finished third and was Bow Wow. Turtle was runner-up and revealed as Jesse McCartney, and the creepy Night Angel and winner was revealed to be Kandi Burruss.
Now, it's not necessarily uncommon that the fandom is spot on with guessing, but Season 3 had at least one judge correctly guess each of the Final 3. If that's not a sign that the clues were about as easy as they could be this season, I'm not sure what is. It's a little disappointing because fans were promised this season would be harder to figure out, but most contestants were pegged within the first episode or two they appeared in.
Disappointment with clues aside, I can at least commend The Masked Singer for selecting the right winner for Season 3. Kandi Burruss deserved the win this season, and certainly pulled out all the stops in the finale with a stunning performance of "River Deep, Mountain High" by Tina Turner. If there was any song to prove she had the best voice in the competition that was the one.
Kandi Burruss was obviously thrilled to have won the season, and said the competition renewed the confidence she had as a singer. Before she was a reality television star, Burruss was a member of the early 90s vocal group Xscape. Burruss later transitioned into the world of production and songwriting, and wrote hit singles for artists like TLC and Destiny's Child. Burruss also had her own solo career, though her debut album did not reach the levels of success of some of her prior work.
Kandi Burruss' is now the first woman to win The Masked Singer, but potentially not the last as the show will return for Season 4. Hopefully the show will make a concerted effort towards giving harder clues, especially with the length of Season 3 giving audiences much more time to work through clues than they had previously. Even if that doesn't change, at least Season 3 can confirm that the premise is still just as weird and entertaining a few years in.
