Modern Family has come to a close on ABC after a mighty 11 seasons, and the end of an era means the end of the cast needing to look a certain way to play their characters. Ariel Winter, a.k.a. Alex Dunphy, was the first to radically change her appearance, and now her on-screen sister has gone for a hair change as well. Sarah Hyland, who played Haley Dunphy for the whole run of Modern Family, looks quite different from Haley nowadays!

While Ariel Winter went for more of a strawberry blonde shade when she dyed her hair, Sarah Hyland went full red! In fact, her shade of red is so vibrant that it's easy to understand why she quoted one of the most famous lines from The Little Mermaid's "Part of Your World" in her caption. Winter may be the actual "Ariel" in the Modern Family fam, but Hyland could pull off the look of Disney's most iconic mermaid since dyeing her hair!
According to Sarah Hyland's caption, she actually managed to dye her hair that shade of red herself! Given current events that have people staying at home and social distancing, Hyland isn't the only person making changes to their hair without the aid of a professional. All things considered, I'd say she did a pretty good job, especially considering how dark her hair was in her Haley Dunphy days.
Of course, if a Modern Family spinoff centered on Haley does eventually happen, Sarah Hyland may be called upon to go back to her brunette look. Then again, Modern Family itself didn't end on a flash-forward, so a potential spinoff could do pretty much anything with Haley without contradicting anything in the finale. Haley was seemingly set up as an ideal character for a spinoff, although the Modern Family co-showrunner has stated that a spinoff would probably revolve around multiple characters.
That said, Sarah Hyland did share previously that she was disappointed with one aspect of Modern Family's final season, although her sweet throwback post does suggest that she thinks fondly on her years as Haley Dunphy despite dealing with some unwanted public attention due to her appearance.
