Why Clone Wars’ Dave Filoni Says He’s ‘Probably Not’ Going To Do Anything More With The Star Wars Show
Star Wars: The Clone Wars only ended a little over a month ago, but fans are already pining for more adventures featuring Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex. Although the series managed to end on a satisfying note, one can’t help but wonder if series writer and producer Dave Filoni has anything he wants to add. Unfortunately for fans, it looks like the Star Wars guru is finished with that period of the franchise, and he has his reasons for this.
Right now, Dave Filoni says he’s looking ahead to the future projects that he and Lucasfilm have planned for Star Wars. While he’s grateful that he and his Clone Wars team got to return for an additional season, he feels they were able to successfully finish out their story. He also doesn’t want to risk getting stuck in that particular project:
Although Dave Filoni’s comments to Nerdist, may be hard for fans to hear, his rationale for not wanting to produce any more Clone Wars episodes is reasonable. He and his team would run the risk of becoming stale if they were to continue cranking out stories for the already lengthy animated series.
And when it comes down to it, Filoni managed to deliver a more than fitting conclusion to Ahsoka Tano’s story with the “Siege of Mandalore” story arc. It also beautifully closed out a turbulent era of the Star Wars mythos, one that added a number of key elements to the ever-expanding universe.
Dave Filoni may be done with the show, but the its legacy will live on through, as Clone Wars characters are slated to appear in other projects. Both Ahsoka and Bo-Katan are expected to appear in the second season of The Mandalorian.
Clone Wars will certainly be missed, just as it was the first time it ended in 2013. Nevertheless, fans will always be able to look back to the stories that Dave Filoni and his collaborators were able to give us.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is now available to stream in its entirety on Disney+.
