One Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Star Hopes To See More Of Peggy Carter In The MCU
Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter is easily one of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While her most recent appearance was in last year’s Avengers: Endgame, she didn’t get a chance to do much in her limited role. With this, many fans are hoping to see her show up again. Unfortunately, this won’t be happening during the final season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but one star has confirmed that he also wants to see more of the S.H.I.E.L.D. co-founder.
Enver Gjokaj, who played Agent Daniel Sousa on Agent Carter and is currently reprising the role on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., is hopeful that fans haven’t seen the last of Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter. According to the actor, Carter is just too good of a character to keep on the sidelines:
Enver Gjokaj could do nothing but praise his former co-star while discussing Peggy Carter with TV Insider. Because of how great the character is and how perfect Atwell is in the role, it makes sense to him that she should return at some point:
Since making her debut in the MCU back in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, Peggy Carter has had an exciting and emotional journey that has seen her serve as an SSR officer and later one of the co-founders of the Marvel Universe’s most important agencies. She even headlined her own self-titled TV show in the process. Of course, we’ve also seen her age into an old woman before dying peacefully in her sleep.
Luckily, Peggy’s story does have a happy ending, as she would ultimately be reunited with her lost love, Steve Rogers, after he decided to return to the past. With this, the two would go on to start a life together.
Enver Gjokaj makes good points regarding Hayley Atwell’s performance in the role and Peggy’s importance to the MCU. It doesn’t appear that Marvel Studios has any plans for her in any projects right now, but there’s certainly still hope for her in the ever-expanding franchise down the road.
New episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. air Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC, and you can stream Agent Carter on Disney Plus.
