How Amy Duggar King Feels About Being Estranged From The Rest Of The Duggars
The Duggar family has been a big part of the TLC lineup for years, with not even serious controversy putting an end to their time in the spotlight on the network. That said, one member of the Duggar family is currently estranged from the family members who populate TLC's Counting On, the follow-up to 19 Kids and Counting. With the fifth season of Counting On fast-approaching, Amy Duggar King shared how she feels about the estrangement.
Amy Duggar was known as one of the more rebellious members of the family during her appearances on 19 Kids and Counting, as the cousin of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's many kids. She was wearing shorts before other female members of the Duggar family were even seen wearing pants! Speaking with ET, the now-married Amy Duggar King was diplomatic in her thoughts about the rest of the family:
Amy Duggar King "doing things differently" has seemingly worked out for her. She married Dillon King back in 2015, and gave birth to their first child, Daxton Ryan, in October 2019. King also explained that she has an expanding restaurant and a boutique that is "doing well," and television is "a whole lot of hustle and bustle." She would rather be received as a "genuine, kind person" whereas TV can give the wrong impression of a person.
She went on to say that she wishes her family "all the best," and she's in a good place with freedom, and it's "wonderful." Although Amy Duggar King wasn't a regular presence on 19 Kids and Counting and hasn't appeared on Counting On, she did go on to appear in another reality TV series. She appeared in Season 7 of WE tv's Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars.
All of this said, Amy Duggar King isn't estranged from her entire family. She shared that she has remained in contract with one of her cousins:
Jill Duggar Dillard and Amy Duggar King are apparently on a texting basis! Notably, King named another member of the Duggar group that is more or less estranged from the larger family that still participates in Counting On. Jill's husband Derick Dillard explained that he and is wife weren't able to really be in charge of some of the milestones of their lives due to the Counting On TV show, and the couple may be moving abroad after family drama. No wonder Jill Duggar Dillard and Amy Duggar King have "things" to discuss!
While it sounds unlikely that Amy Duggar King will ever return to TLC reality TV and Jill Duggar Dillard may be in the same boat, many more members of the Duggar family will soon be back on the small screen. The fifth season of Counting On premieres on Tuesday, July 7 at 8 p.m. ET on TLC. The premiere will run for an hour.
