High School Musical vet Ashley Tisdale is opening up about her personal struggles and her journey toward self-love and mental health. In the "most personal" story she has ever shared online, Tisdale revealed that she had her breast implants removed in an inspiring post.
It’s not uncommon for actresses to undergo breast enhancement surgery in Hollywood. In fact, E!’s Botched documents how popular breast augmentation is (and how often it can go wrong). Suffice it to say that Ashley Tisdale’s choice to remove her breast implants wasn’t because of a surgery gone wrong, but for very different and personal reasons. In a lengthy and candid Instagram post, the actress explained her decision. Here’s what Tisdale wrote:
Years ago I underwent breast enhancement surgery. Prior to the surgery, I constantly felt my body was less than, and thought this change would make me feel more whole and more secure about myself. And for a short period of time…it did. But little by little I began struggling with minor health issues that just were not adding up—food sensitivities as well as gut issues that I thought could be caused by my implants. So, last winter I decided to undergo implant removal... Over the years I’ve met with many holistic and non-holistic doctors and learned the importance of living a non-toxic life... I can’t say I’m the proudest of the choices I made in the past but I don’t regret it because it got me here today.
The High School Musical star was incredibly open and honest about her decision to have explant surgery and the health issues she had preceding the operation itself. She even cited how getting breast implants temporarily made her feel “more secure about” herself because she believed her “body was less than” at the time.
Alongside the post, she included a picture of herself on the beach. Ashley Tisdale’s head is thrown back towards the sun and her eyes are closed. The photo was taken “two months after” her explant surgery. Tisdale believed that fans could probably tell “just how happy” she was to “finally be fully” herself. At the end of the day, Ashley Tisdale didn’t regret her decision to get breast implant surgery years ago because she wouldn’t be where she is today. She then went on to say that she’s “excited to share” more of her journey with fans over at Frenshe, the actress’ new health and wellness site that promotes an “honest approach” to health and beauty.
The Suite Life of Zack and Cody alum isn’t the only celeb who removed her breast implants recently. Former model and TV personality Chrissy Teigen also got her implants taken out and celebrated the decision with a topless photo of herself on the beach.
