X-Files Stars And Crew Reunite To 'Sing' Iconic Theme Song In Hilarious Video
The stars and crew behind The X-Files have gotten together for a great cause, collaborating on a hilarious video in the process. Have you ever wondered what The X-Files theme song would be like with lyrics? Mark Snow’s iconic ditty has now gotten some, thanks to the winners of a contest which was run months ago.
Jennifer Large and Rebecca MacDonald’s lyrics won the contest, and the cast and crew of The X-Files came together to perform them. As was the case with the cast of Smallville’s reunion earlier this year, it is all part of raising money for World Central Kitchen. Check out the video below, and make sure you stay tuned until the very end of it!
Did you wait until all the way until the very end? If so, then you saw the upcoming star of The Crown, Gillian Anderson, make a quick cameo as she asked, “Wait, what are we doing?” The answer would be everyone giving their all to singing the, previously un-singable, X-Files theme song.
“Unsolved mysteries” are mentioned in the freshly lyricized X-Files theme song, but shouldn't be confused with the mysteries which got people talking earlier this summer. Now, some thoughts on the video. Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner) is ready for this sing-along in a way that makes me respect him even more.
Mitch Pileggi is heading for the Walker, Texas Ranger reboot, and this video should get fans even more pumped to see what he gets up to in it. Pileggi is not the only one enthusiastic about singing the newly lyrical X-Files theme song, either, as it is evident that Fox Mulder himself, David Duchovny, wanted to get his performance right.
Duchovny even mentions the project’s parallels to a musical. Props to Michael McKean (Morris Fletcher) at the 2:50 mark for making me literally laugh out loud. Also, Laurie Holden (Marita Covarrubias) has pipes, and yes, that is Grey’s Anatomy’s James Pickens Jr. (Alvin Kersh) and The Princess Bride’s Cary Elwes (Brad Follmer) singing along, among many others. Love it!
For the record, the only lyrics in the full version of the original song are, “do you really want to know?” If you really wanted to know what it would be like for the cast and crew of The X-Files to sing the sci-fi series’ theme song, that mystery has been solved. While it is not another season of the cult-favorite, it is certainly something for fans to enjoy.

The X-Files thrilled fans by returning for two more seasons fifteen years after it originally ended back in 2001. Gillian Anderson had a comeback for any critics when it was announced that Season 12 would not happen for The X-Files, which is a development that occurred well after Fox had indicated it wanted more of the show after its first revival season in 2016.
While Season 11 followed two years later, in 2018, Gillian Anderson shared that that season would be the last for her. For now, fans can enjoy this rendition of the theme song to help salve any wounds about it. The cast and crew went above and beyond for this, and it shows.
The X-Files is well over 25-years-old now, but you can still watch all 11 seasons streaming on Hulu. X-Files star Gillian Anderson will be starring in the upcoming season of The Crown, which will be one of this fall’s premieres, and bow on November 15.
