American Idol's Katy Perry is celebrating more than one accomplishment this week. The pop star was very excited to go public with her latest album, Smile, on Friday, and tweeted about it straight from her hospital bed. As it turns out, the album release dropped only one day after Perry gave birth to her daughter, Daisy Dove, with fiancé Orlando Bloom. Suffice it to say that she’s tickled pink about putting out a new life and a new album in the same week.
Katy Perry is pulling double duty as a new mom and singer, and understandably, the pop star seemed charmed by the fact that she delivered her daughter and an album one day apart. And really, what are the odds of that? In that vein, there’s obviously a lot for Perry to celebrate right now. In a Twitter post, the American Idol judge captioned her double milestone with a very “I can do anything” vibe and I’m here for it. Here’s what Perry wrote:
The hashtag is in reference to “What Makes a Woman,” a track off of Katy Perry's sixth studio album. She also included a juggling emoji, which I took to mean that her delivering a baby and releasing an album were all a part of the juggling act she does as both a woman with a personal life and her status as a public figure. (Unless maybe she picked up the art of juggling while in the hospital, which seems slightly less realistic.)
The American Idol judge also included a clown emoji, which is probably a reference to her new album's title and cover, which features Katy Perry wearing a clown nose on her face. She's going to need to get an infant-sized clown nose now for her new bundle of joy.
In another tweet, Katy Perry included a snippet of her new song “Cry About it Later” alongside the titles of all twelve tracks, along with a close-up image of her wearing the clown nose. Perry’s excitement for the album was evident because half of the caption was in all caps. More importantly, the pop star hoped that the record put a smile on her fans’ faces like it did hers. And now, Perry has the birth of her daughter to smile about as well.
Daisy Dove is Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s first child together, and Bloom is “feeling really grateful” for his baby girl. The actor was filming the second season of Amazon Prime’s Carnival Row in Prague when production was halted back in March. Co-star Cara Delevigne didn’t expect filming to resume until the winter of 2021, which potentially gives Bloom plenty of time off to spend with his family.
