Supernatural Stars Share Emotional Posts Ahead Of Filming The Series Finale
The journey toward Supernatural’s series finale has been unique. The long-running CW show was supposed to wrap its 15th and final season in May, but Hollywood-wide production shutdowns in March prevented the cast and crew from filming the final two episodes. However, the cast is now back in Vancouver to resume filming, and Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki shared emotional posts ahead of filming the series finale.
It’s truly the end of an era. Filming has begun on Supernatural’s final (!) episode ever. Despite the episode being delayed, it hasn’t made the approaching end to the show any less emotional for the cast or the fans. Over on Instagram, Jensen Ackles got visibly choked up in a video post when talking about how the show’s previous 326 scripts had “to be continued” written at the bottom vs. what the last words written on the final Supernatural script were. Watch Ackles’ emotional post below.
When Jensen Ackles holds up the final script for all to see, with the words “The End” written and underlined at the top of the page, I also got a bit emotional. I think it’s clear to see how difficult this video was for Ackles to film and how the show’s end is impacting him because he pauses after holding up the final script page to shake his head with emotion. I can’t imagine what these final two weeks will be like for him and his co-stars, who have been on this journey together for many seasons.
Speaking of Supernatural co-stars, Jared Padalecki also made an emotional post about the series finale. He posted a photo of himself holding up a thumbs up sign. Alongside the image, Padalecki posted a lovely caption indicating that he was headed out to begin filming the first day of the last season finale he’ll ever film for the show. He also stated how “incredibly grateful” he is to the fans. Check out his post below!
As the cast gets ready to say goodbye to the show, a final season trailer for Supernatural was released and offered viewers a glimpse of Sam Winchester in a sweater vest, an emotional moment between Dean and the angel Castiel, and a young version of the eldest Winchester brother. It was all pretty intriguing and, despite the series coming to a close, I’m sure many are looking forward to seeing exactly how the story ends.
Supernatural may be wrapping, but Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles have already got projects lined up following the end of the series. Padalecki is set to headline The CW’s reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger. Meanwhile, Ackles has been cast as Soldier Boy in Season 3 of Amazon’s The Boys, which will reunite him with Supernatural creator and current The Boys showrunner, Eric Kripke.
The final seven episodes of Supernatural’s final season will begin airing on Thursday, October 8 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW. For more on what to watch, be sure to check out our 2020 fall TV premiere schedule.
