Supernatural is nearing the end of its long and storied road. The cast has already been emotional before filming the series finale, but after fifteen seasons the drama will soon bid fans farewell. This means it is time for the cast to figure out what to take home as a physical reminder of the show. Jensen Ackles is readying to get the best prop possible after filming is done, which is not too far off.

It's become a tradition for actors to take home at least one prop from the set after they complete an extended time filming a series or the show wraps altogether. Vikings’ Katheryn Winnick took several, and the Game of Thrones cast did, too. Jensen Ackles cannot bring home a sword from his Supernatural days, so what is he taking home? Something that does not sit on your hip. Ackles told Digital Spy:

As far as taking something on the final day, I will definitely be taking something that I've had my eye on since day one of Supernatural[.] But it's okay, I'm not stealing it. I got permission. I begged and begged and pleaded for years, but I finally got it this year. They're going to let me drive home the Impala.

That is right! Baby is coming home to daddy. When Supernatural wraps, Jensen Ackles will get to take home Dean Winchester’s beloved Impala. As fans will recall, “Baby,” as Dean calls his and Sam’s legendary mode of transportation, was front-and-center when filming on Supernatural’s final episodes commenced. Now, fans know who will be driving her home.

It might not be as original as the prop tongue and throat that Jason Momoa took home from his days on Game of Thrones, but Jensen Ackles is getting a car. Plus, aside from Dean and Sam, Baby is arguably the longest-running fixture of Supernatural. Ackles could not take home a more Supernatural totem than the Impala, unless he also takes a cardboard cutout of Sam and Castiel’s likeness.

In an interesting bit of trivia, at one point, Baby had been set to play a James Bond-style role in the show. A series of gizmos were initially part of Supernatural’s vision for the Impala before those plans were scrapped. Even without all of that, the car quickly found its way into the hearts of fans, and evidently, Jensen Ackles.

The car was probably a big ask, but Jensen Ackles’ persistence paid off. It will be a great reminder of his time on Supernatural. After all, Ackles is moving forward. He has found his next role on The Boys. Ackles will be joining the show for its third season in the part of Soldier Boy. The series marks a reunion between Ackles and Supernatural’s creator, Eric Kripke.

Will Jensen Ackles roll up to the set in Baby? It would be a cool way for the Supernatural star to get started on The Boys. Of course, this is just my imagination having fun with the possibilities. I am sure that fans would go for a selfie of Ackles on the set of The Boys inside of Supernatural’s storied Impala, though.

Supernatural’s final season will begin airing again on Thursday, October 8, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. It will be one of this fall’s premieres. You can watch Jensen Ackles driving Baby through past adventures during the first fourteen episodes of Supernatural on Netflix alongside plenty of new 2020 content.
