John Cena Is Heading Back To TV For The Wipeout Reboot, And His Abs Are On Point For It
There's nothing like sitting back and getting to relieve a bit of tension by watching some good, old-fashioned silly TV, which is why it was so exciting for fans of the obstacle course competition Wipeout to hear that it was headed back to television on TBS. The big red ball-filled series is coming back soon, and we've finally had a first look at the reboot that includes new host John Cena, and his abs are 100% on point for it.
The rebooted Wipeout will see the multi-talented John Cena (Trainwreck, Blockers) host alongside Emmy-nominated comedian and actress Nicole Byer (Nailed It!, Girl Code) when it comes back to TV, and if you thought stepping in to host a competition series where people usually face-plant while bouncing in between giant squishy balls meant that the wrestling superstar wouldn't have his physical fitness on point, then you don't know anything about John Cena at all. Take a look at this teaser from the new TBS show!
Well. I mean, I wasn't expecting John Cena to be flabby for this first look "training" video (he is about to be seen as an actual superhero in The Suicide Squad, after all), but I was also thinking I'd get a look at his hosting skills. So, I was quite (pleasantly) surprised to see him hefting a much smaller version of one of the show's infamous red balls into the air while shirtless. I suppose someone like Cena trains for every gig, bless his heart. You can basically count all of his rock-hard muscles, and I'm not mad about that.
While the snippet we get of the gameplay on the retooled Wipeout looks very familiar, seeing as how literally no one would have tuned in had there not been big red balls involved (Yes, I'm going to try to use the word "balls" in every paragraph, so just get comfortable and enjoy the ride...), this update to the popular competition has been promised to include some surprises for fans. The course has been re-imagined so that there will now be a lot of new components to help challenge contestants and push them to their physical limits, while also giving viewers the jaw-dropping and hilarious fails we need in these trying times.
Funny folks John Cena and Nicole Byer will be our hosts with the most to serve up commentary on the competition, but they'll also be joined by Camille Kostek (I Feel Pretty), who will serve as host in the field so that we can see how each contestant is feeling right after they get taken down by one or more of those balls. For their parts, Cena and Byer both understand how much fans need Wipeout right now, and said:
In case you were wondering, Byer got a ball-happy "training" video for Wipeout, too, and it's just as funny as you'd imagine it would be...
Get it, Nicole! We don't know right now when John Cena, Nicole Byer and the revival of Wipeout's big ol' balls will hit TBS, so stay tuned to CinemaBlend for the latest.
