WandaVision Is Coming To Disney+ This Year, But What's Going On With The Falcon And The Winter Soldier?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe fans are craving new content in the wake of several delays to Marvel Studios’ big and small-screen projects. Most fans were particularly excited about the upcoming Disney+ shows, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision, but both experienced production delays due to the global health crisis. However, there now seems to be a bit of light at the end of the tunnel, as it’s now been confirmed that WandaVision will still arrive in 2020. Unfortunately, it looks like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier could be delayed.
Disney+ announced its slate of original content to premiere throughout the remainder of 2020, and WandaVision was included in the announcement alongside titles like Disney’s Black Beauty adaptation and the upcoming Inside Pixar special. WandaVision was always set to be released in December 2020, but the delays cast doubt on the project reaching that release window. Thankfully, it looks like things will pan out. Disney+ also released a video to showcase the new content. Check it out:
While the WandaVision news is exciting, fans may be somewhat disappointed to know that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will not be released this year. So what could lie ahead for the show?
Originally slated to be released back in August, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier halted production in March. The show was filming in Prague at the time and was said to have at least a few weeks of shooting left to go. Production has now started back up, but it’s possible that there may not be enough time to get the show complete it for a 2020 release.
WandaVision, on the other hand, reportedly wrapped back in March, shortly before the lockdown began. However, it was later reported that the show had to undergo a few reshoots. Kathryn Hahn, who plays a mystery character on the show, seemingly confirmed this when she mentioned that she still had more work to do. All things considered, it does make sense that WandaVision would wrap sooner than The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, given that a lot of the former probably didn't have to shoot on location as much as the latter.
With WandaVision’s surprising (but welcome) release date, one has to wonder about the length of the series. Initial reports pointed to it being only 6-8 episodes, which was also believed to be the case for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, one report suggested that it could be longer but, given the show’s quick turnaround, it’s honestly hard to gauge whether or not this is indeed the case.
WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter will each focus on a pair of fan-favorite MCU characters, though their situations couldn’t be any more different. While Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes will be joining forces for a worldwide adventure, Wanda Maximoff and the seemingly resurrected Vision will be living their perfect life together, with a little help from some classic eras of TV.
