Kevin Smith Throws His Hat Into The Ring For The Final Season Of Supergirl
Arrowverse fans received some surprising news last week, as it was revealed that Supergirl will end following its upcoming sixth season. The news drew heartfelt reactions from both fans and the stars of the show, with many celebrating the show’s legacy. With so much to wrap up before the finale, you can imagine that fans also have a number of hopes and desires for the final batch of episodes. And superfan Kevin Smith has now revealed his personal hope, which is to return to the director’s chair to helm another installment.
Kevin Smith previously directed four episodes of Supergirl and posted a pretty sentimental Instagram post in which he reflected on his time working on the show. He also expressed his admiration for the Girl of Steel herself Melissa Benoist:
The fan and filmmaker would go on to say that he hopes to direct one more episode during the final season, though he won’t be disappointed if he doesn’t get the opportunity:
Kevin Smith’s passion and respect for the franchises he works with has always been evident, but it’s definitely clear when seeing his sweet post. You can check out his message, along with some sweet behind-the-scenes photos, down below:
Seeing that Smith has already directed four episodes, it would be nice for him to return for another installment before the series wraps up, and I think the chances of him making a return are solid. The director is a veteran of not only Supergirl, as he’s also directed episodes of The Flash. And on top of everything else, Smith also has a firm knowledge of the character and the world she inhabits.
All in all, Kevin Smith has more than a few factors leaning in his favor when it comes to a potential return to Supergirl. He’s got the skill, the know-how and the passion for the job so, hopefully, he gets a chance to work with the cast and crew one more time. And if he does get to return, he’s sure to deliver an episode fans won’t forget.
Supergirl will return to The CW for its final season in 2021.
