Hulu's Animaniacs Reboot Channels Jurassic Park For Hilarious First Look
It’s been over two decades since Animaniacs last graced our screens and gave us the wild (and lovable) antics of the Warner brothers and sister. So you can imagine that fans were excited when it was revealed that Hulu would be reviving the series. We’ve been anxiously awaiting our first look at the new show and, now we finally have it with the first official trailer. Not only that, but the footage also pays loving homage to Jurassic Park.
Hulu has released the first trailer for Animaniacs, which features the first look at the revived Yakko, Wakko and Dot. In the footage, three siblings serve as the main attraction in what’s a clear-cut parody of one of Jurassic Park’s key moments. You can check it out for yourself down below:
As you can see, the trailer mirrors the first moment that Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ellie Sattler see dinosaurs at Jurassic Park. The only difference is that instead of giant, reptilian creatures, they’re treated to the returns of the Warner siblings. What’s even more fun is that the clip places Steven Spielberg, the show’s producer, in the role of John Hammond.
The show also makes reference to the fact that it has been a long time since we’ve last seen the characters. This is evident as Dr. Grant points out how they’ve been updated to reflect the widescreen format.
The trailer also gave us an amazing tease, as it also further confirmed the returns of the scheming and hilarious mice, Pinky and the Brain. Having Grant and Sattler get excited about their existence was perfect.
Is anyone else feeling a serious burst of nostalgia? Not only does the trailer display the sleek updates to the animation, but it also maintains the cultural and meta humor that the show was known for.
The original Animaniacs aired for five seasons and emerged as one of the most popular children’s television series at the time. The show was made up of segments starring the Warner siblings but also other characters Slappy Squirrel, Rita & Runt and Buttons & Mindy. And as mentioned, the show was also notable for its vast use of pop culture and its tendency to parody films, TV shows and celebrities in general. Based on this trailer, it definitely looks like the show will remain true to its roots and won’t stray too far from the format that made it hit.

While it would have been nice to have also seen some footage of Pinky and the Brain, it’s probably better that the trailer left us with yet another unrevealed element to be excited about. All in all, Hulu’s Animaniacs looks like it’s going to be a fun and wild ride down memory lane. The show is set to premiere on the streamer on November 20 and, until then, you can stream the original show.
