Titans Star Brenton Thwaites Pitched A New Look For Dick Grayson In Season 3
Titans is getting back into gear! The superhero series will return for its third season, which will take it from its original home on DC Universe over to HBO Max. With production starting on new Titans episodes, star Brenton Thwaites shared a photo of a new look that he "pitched" for his character in Season 3. If Thwaites had his way with his suggestion, then fans would have been in for a Dick Grayson with a very different look!
Prepare for something that you'll probably never see in an episode of Titans and take a look!
Like Brad Pitt and Carson Daly before him, Brenton Thwaites apparently took a break from haircuts over the months of quarantine, when hiatus meant that he could ditch Dick's more clean-cut look for something a little more untamed. Unlike Carson Daly, however, Thwaites isn't having his hair cut on live TV, which is probably for the best.
Unsurprisingly, Brenton Thwaites' pitch for Dick to rock long hair and a mustache in Season 3 didn't fly with the Titans team, although Nightwing has gone for a mullet on the pages of DC Comics and even in Batman: The Animated Series, so longer hair on Dick Grayson isn't unprecedented! Still, I'm on board with short hair (and no mullet!) for Dick in Season 3. Ditching the Robin identity to become Nightwing doesn't have to change his entire look!
Besides, there will seemingly be plenty of other changes in Season 3. Jason Todd is going full Red Hood in the new episodes, proving that Titans is skipping the traditional Red Hood backstory of Jason being killed by the Joker and then resurrected. Good news for Jason, but it raises a whole lot of questions, especially for viewers who have been expecting to see him meet the wrong side of a crowbar at some point in the series.
The show will also return to Gotham and introduce the Titans universe version of Barbara Gordon, although her role in the series doesn't seem to involve Batgirl. It's likely that Titans' Babs will be in her Oracle role, if she's involved in the superhero side of Gotham City. Also joining the crew in Season 3 is classic Batman villain Scarecrow.
Titans is seemingly in the very early days of production on Season 3, so it may be a while before we get to see Brenton Thwaites' look as Nightwing, or any of the new characters. Still, with an expected premiere in 2021, Titans could well start releasing casting news sooner rather than later. I can't be the only one dying to find out who will play live-action Barbara Gordon, right?
