90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way's return was a bit rocky for Ariela Weinberg and Biniyam Shibre, who unexpectedly welcomed their child a week ahead of schedule via emergency c-section. The suddenness of it all meant the couple didn't have a lot of time to finalize plans for the baby's arrival, to the point that they didn't even have a name for their new baby boy.
Biniyam and Ariela were split on what to call the baby, which led to Biniyam's family nicknaming him Simba while they hashed out what his name would be afterward. Not long after the episode premiered, Ariela posted an update of their little baby boy in the current day, and revealed his actual name down in the caption.
As 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way viewers may remember, Avi was supposed to be short for Aviela. This was the name Ariela wanted to give her son (which I'm just now noticing is really similar to her own), but Biniyam was a hard pass on the suggestion. He was hoping the child would be named Gabriel, but Ariela was revolted by the idea that others may call him "Gabe" in America. Looks like Biniyam lost this battle, and the baby's official name is Aviela Biniyam Shibre, or Avi for short.
It's good to see Aviel looking so healthy at 10 months old, especially given Ariela Weinberg and Biniyam Shibre's concern in the episode highlighting his birth. There was definitely worry between the two of them that the birth could go wrong, but thankfully, everything worked out just fine even if the c-section wasn't the ideal plan. They just had to get their house and all the necessary supplies for raising a child, which Biniyam was seen rushing around and trying to do towards the episode's end.
By the way, if it isn't apparent from this picture and those hashtags, it appears Ariela and Biniyam are still together in the present day. That's certainly good to see considering how chaotic things were between them leading up to the baby's birth, and it seemed like the couple both realized they had a long way to go before really understanding each other. With that said nothing in this post seems to indicate whether or not Ariela and baby Aviel are still out in Ethiopia with Biniyam, or the family is looking to find their way over to America for the next chapter.
